Nice boat Andy,

The gen 2 legs are generally reliable if looked after, but you know that anyway, my bow rider had the same leg and never gave me any issues at all, but I did have it serviced regularly, and to answer Martins questions , it has 2 big hydraulic rams on it as per the photo

Nice find! Sweet boat. I'm thoroughly jealous.

I agree that it is the right size with nice creature comforts. Please continue with documenting progress.

I do wish we had a head for ours. With 3 ladies in our family and a couple others that sometimes join us, it would make trips much easier. The heated protection is another nice bonus for excursions.

Are you potentially considering a small kicker for backup?

Is the trim/tilt all electric Andy or is it hydraulic ?
Its hydraulic, but with most hydraulic systems there is and electrical element.
Pumps and control systems are electric.
When i inspected the boat the leg would only trim up on the trailer button and not on the trim button, this is how i knew the trim sender and trim limit switch were knackered! (also the trim gauge wasn't working)

If the senders arn't working then the trim system assumes that the leg is in the full up position (within the trim range)
The trailer button lets you trim the leg up beyond the normal operating range of the trim button.
Hence why the trailer button worked and the trim button didn't

Anyway, new ones ready to fit when the leg goes back together...

Not really,
I've always found that a good anchor and a vhf radio work better :D
I boat in a very well covered area, and in all my years i can't ever say I've been out and been the only boat on the water.

That said, i do have a 10hp Mariner that would fit on the back.
Just don't know how much progress it would make and if it would be able to keep the bow into the sea if it gets rough???

(food for thought)

Right, well here we go!
This is why i have very little faith in the marine industry....

If you are just a member of society that happens to own a boat, but have no knowledge/ability/tools to do the work yourself. You are at the mercy of someone you are trusting to do the work for you. Oh and paying them!

I have a receipt for water pump in my folder and yes the impeller looks knew, but the rest of the water pump has never been cleaned or replaced.
The seals are shot and the base plate has deformed, presumably when the previous impeller failed?

The gearbox oil that has leaked out so far is old. but the good news is it's very black with no signs of water ingress...

Anyway. let the rebuild begin

I'm with you there, unfortunately it's not just the marine industry either is it.. I think it's most trades these days.
Blatant fraudulant claim of work done, when a cheap half cocked repair was the actual outcome.

It's good to see a few folk can still do it right & share their knowledge with others :thumbsup
F-RibsAndSibs.Com.... :whistle
Because it's a big old WWworld out there

So.....
you've got these heavily stained stainless steel braided hoses that you hate the sight of.
Twenty years of dirty sea water and lack of any maintenance.
Do you just bight the bullet and replace them?

NO!
just break out the Harpic Max power........lol
Just remember to rinse off after ;-)
