Welsh launch sites
Hello All
I'm looking for some recommendations for Welsh launch sites with a campsite near by. I live in Bristol and have done Poole to death so looking for somewhere a bit different. If anyone has any good feedback on a suitable spot it would be much appreciated. Looking to camp for about 3 days and explore with the Honwave t40.
I don't have a trailer if that helps with slipway recommendations.
Many thanks
Pabs

Wales is a bit of a pain in the (__!__) ass!
We caravan to sites around Porthmadog - black rock sands.
You need to register your craft at a harbour office or Gwynedd council office.
There's a daily, weekly or annual fee for registration, I just do it for the year.
You must have 3rd party insurance with a minimum of £3million cover.
You must display a kill cord sticker and wear:use your kill cord.
Ages/qualifications apply for under age 18 I think for tillering a power craft.
I did a page sometime ago, have a look for black rock sands or Gwynedd on the search and you should find it. I'll try and get more info up later for you.

Re: Welsh launch sites
i asked a couple of "locals" and was told to just launch. I know you have to register with gwnedd council but with ceredigion council as long as u have insurance your ok . some slipways you have to pay other are free. its probably best to check . I usually launch round aberystwyth area and just need valid insurance according to aber harbour master

Thanks Guys
I have insurance so not an issue. It would be nice if someone knows of a good campsite with a good launch site close by.
Don't mind paying if needed.

Re: Welsh launch sites
Wales isn't a pain in the backside Gwynedd CC have some very tight rules mainly due to bad practices by some boaters .... the same rules do not apply to the rest of Wales there are some great places to launch in Pembrokeshire and most you dont have to show anything just launch others you may have to show your insurance but hey what fool doesn't insure thier boat. If you Launch in the Cleddau call up the Milford Haven Port Authority to let them know you are there just courtesy those tankers and tugs are big beggars and they will let you know of any movements works going on to keep you safeMartin wrote:Wales is a bit of a pain in the (__!__) ass!

Re: Welsh launch sites
Thanks for that info.
I've asked many questions about launching in and around Wales and got few answers, finding info on the internet always appears to come back to the bloody councils.
We have a thread HERE for insurance / permits and such, and a page
HERE for Launch sites etc. If you could add any info to either Dave, I and a few others would no doubt be very gratefull
