Rescued Avon inflatable
We have been given this Avon with a wooden floor which has been stored in a garage for the last 20 years and is in remarkable condition, inflated the boat and no leaks ,renewed valves . The wooden keel is made from 7” x 1 1/2” timber. We are trying to find out the age of it , our guess is 1980. Length is 4.6 m. X 1.7 width. Going to use a 30hp Yamaha on it.

Re: Rescued Avon inflatable
Hi Stingray and
to the forum!
That looks like quite the project. From the pics it looks like the floor is a bit twisted up at the bow - is that just an illusion?
With a bit of TLC that boat is going to be a cracker - it’s amazing how well PVC hypalon cleans up. @PeterM has quite a bit of experience cleaning up Avons (he’s just finished a much smaller project) and I have a feeling he could be quite useful.
Be sure to keep posting pics - we are all big fans of pictures.
(Little tip: assuming you took the pic on your phone - if you edit it and crop it just a smidgen then it resets the orientation information and the picture will always upload the right way up!)

Check out Polymarine
https://www.polymarineshop.com/
They have everything you might ever need for gluing a boat, be it Hypalon or PVC.
Here is the glue: (the page has both PVC and Hypalon adhesives listed)
https://www.polymarineshop.com/adhesive/
It’s worth reading their guides as there are somethings which won’t stick together or require a combination of adhesives.

Re: Rescued Avon inflatable
It sounds like you have rescued an Avon inflatable boat or dinghy. Avon is a well-known brand that produces inflatable boats, often used for various water-related activities such as boating, fishing, or water sports.Remember that the specific steps you need to take may vary based on the model and condition of the Avon inflatable boat in Dubai you've rescued. Always consult the manufacturer's guidelines and consider seeking advice from experienced boaters if you have any doubts or questions about its maintenance and use.
