Ribport help please

Post by Compo1804 » 03 Jul 2022, 12:48

Hi,
Recently mounted a cleatport. Inside the bow on the side of the right hand tube.
Prepped the tube as per instructions, fitted when warm using a hair dryer, and all was great.
Not used it yes ,only wrapped the bow line around it to keep it tidy, its probably been on there 4 weeks now, was going to mount my gopro on it.
Was having a quick look around this morning and noticed its started to peel away from the tube in a few spots.
How do I remove it, and clean any residue, as I have no faith in it if its peeling and not been used at all.pressed it back down and its stuck again, but for how long ???
Any advice would be much appreciated please.
Thanks
Mal

The vhb is easily removed, warm the rib port with a sponge/hot water then gently peel off from the tube.
If it leaves any vhb behind you can peel it off like gum 👍🏻

I've just got 2 of these for my honwave.

I've found the vhb stuff to be amazing ( it's the same as used on the keel guard on my rib) .

I have to think there may have been something on the tube that didn't let the vhb bond properly.

I'll let you know how I get on with mine. I've also just glued with proper 2 part glue and mek prep etc an additional d ring to hold a bag for bow storage.. that'll probably fall off now aswell!
