Re: Trim pin location please.
Are you running this on an Elling KB350? If so we have same boat/engine combo.
Run ours trimmed third hole out and an 8mm spacer on transom. Lightly loaded one up plus kit this gives us a good compromise between grip and performance, and keeps bow up. Only get slight intermittent ventilation in choppy conditions and on hard turns to port under power. Found with the cat hull running with bow up gives a smoother ride into wind or head sea and less prone to bow steer in a following sea.
If running with a heavier load and after less intermittent ventilation then perhaps trim in to hole two and no packer. Downside will be a bit more splash off motor, slight loss in top speed (only a knot or so) and bow will ride lower.
We’ve found the Elling/Tohatsu 9.8 to be a great lightweight combination.

Just running the engine in, so low revs.
left it on hole zero ( first one)
tell me more about the 8mm on transom - on the top?
a sketch would be good.
Thanks

Re: Trim pin location please.
Nowt technical I’m afraid.
Just a simple strip of 8mm thick HDPE cut from a cheap IKEA chopping board placed on top of transom under outboard saddle.

Re: Trim pin location please.
It’s only small gains to be fair. With spacer just get a bit less splash, no increase in speed and perhaps even a touch more ventilation. No spacer might even work best on your boat.
All a bit of a compromise on sibs to be honest, and all seem to be different. Just do what works best for you and your boat.

Re: Trim pin location please.
Same packer for our Tohatsu 9.8.
Yes splash referred to relates to skyward, in severe cases this sometimes comes back into boat over transom. Ideally looking to raise motor so AV plate is visible and parallel to water surface whilst at planing speeds.
Having said that the Elling/Tohatsu 9.8 combo shouldn’t be an issue running with or without said packer.
