Re: My new HonwaveT40
Would appreciate a pic of the underside and also the new transom from the rear. Nobody ever seems to post these shots, if I was in the market the hull design would be important to me in weighing up how it would perform and compare to others.
I like the handles instead of a knotted rope my Excel used to have.

Very nice @Voyt!
Now we just need the weather and the restrictions to change so you can use it. What engine are you paring it with?

Not a complete idiot - some parts are missing.

Re: My new HonwaveT40
Hi everyone,
It was so cold on that day when we tried to set it up. I have a few more photos on my dslr camera which i will try to upload soon. Answering your question Chris, my local dealer gave me a good deal for BF30, but I have to consider this because there is a lot of questions behind (money plus servicing costs weight and so on) ... I have to think about it, no rush. Btw..... Thank you all for the warm welcome.
All the best

Re: My new HonwaveT40
A 30hp? I assume you never intend to lift it? At 73kg the Bf30 is a beast. My engine weighs 44kg and that is quite enough for me. I am a big, strong guy but I would not like to wrestle a 73kg engine onto the back of a boat.

Agreed. 20hp is the limit for a 1 person lift and a 30hp means the boat is going up live on a trailer.ChrisParish wrote: ↑28 Dec 2020, 22:20A 30hp? I assume you never intend to lift it? Often wondered how heavy a 30hp two stroke is though. Possibly light enough to make it happen?

Re: My new HonwaveT40
My 25hp Mariner badged Tohatsu was available in 30hp form at exactly the same weight. I guess it's probably minor differences to the carb and maybe timing that achieves the additional power. I've never been tempted to look into it. The 25 is already quite enough for my little T38.
Weight wise I've never actually put the engine on a scale, but the specs say 51kg.
That's right on the edge of what I can lift, but lugging it from trolley to transom is doable. Lifting it onto the transom when the boat is up high on a trailer is more of a struggle, but again I've managed it a few times without injury.
The downsides to the 2 stroke is the smoke and the extra noise. Not so much when underway, but I find the noise irritating at idle in neutral when it can make conversation, especially boat to boat, quite hard. The modern 4 strokes at idle are blissfully quiet.
