HX870 Squelch Adjustment.

Hi folks, just got a new Standard Horizon HX870 vhf radio, I am a bit confused about the squelch adjustment

Have I got this right.

1. Press Sql button on side of radio once.Sql appears on screen.
2.Press CH down till white noise is heard.
3. Adjust CH up till noise disappears.

I only have one bar between noise on and noise off does that sound right.?

Yes, that's about it. You may want to notch it up a little more depending on whether you still pick up any distant transmissions, unless of course you're actually listening out for someone who's not close.

The HX870 is a great radio but has quite a lot of functionality so needs a bit of familiarisation time to get to know it.

Have you got the version with the latest firmware including all the changed UK channels?
(V 2.04 from memory but I'll check next time I'm near the set).

And. Its fairly easy to update the firmware via the sh website....;) .... fixed a few issues on mine.. like not recognising when to charge....

That’s good to hear Pete, I think Roger was the first on here the try to update the HX870 and if I recall it took a few emails with S/H to find the correct source for firmware. I remember he did a great write up at the time and many followed suit.
