I'm keeping an eye on the weather. It's not looking promising for the 9th but it could all change in the next 24 hours as storm Freya blows through.

Based on tonight's forecast I'm postponing the Ryde trip to the 23rd March. The wind and sea state is just too big for sibs.

So we are now going on the 23rd March with a backup date of the 6th April.

...tonight's forecast...
Hi Chris

What's the app?

I looked at the Met Office site and saw sun, hooray! Then saw the potential for 43mph gusts, booo! I guessed this was coming.

Thanks

Simon

Ok. Roll on the 23rd of March! Gives me time to get my Johnson 9.9 running - let’s see if it performs any better than the mariner.
Not a complete idiot - some parts are missing.

Hi all, new member here!

Myself and a couple of friends recently bought an Frib 360 (I think Sam has already introduced you all to the boat in this thread previously...) and we were hoping to join you all on this trip!

Other than buzzing around Swanage bay for a few hours to get used to launching, recovering and general handling of the boat, this will be our first big outing so have a few questions we were hoping you could assist with...
- Firstly, we have a Suzuki DF20a which will be serviced within the next week (although it has <10 hours on it since new, apparently), is an additional (auxiliary) engine necessary for a trip like this?
- We have a 12L fuel tank currently, although the engine is supposed to be quite efficient, I'm guessing we will need a bigger/spare tank to ensure we have enough range?
- We have not yet invested in a Radio (nor license), GPS/Fish finder etc although planning to before the summer. However, as we are travelling in convoy would we manage without for this trip?

Obviously we have life vests, anchor, sufficient warm clothing etc, is there anything else that is vital for a journey like this?

Thanks all!
Adam

Hi Adam, Welcome to our little community. :welcome
You don't need a radio or fishfinder/plotter.. many of the guys will be equiped and the group on a whole will stick togethor.
If you put 10ltr in the tank at launch you will more than likely have enough fuel, though carrying a 5ltr for back up is something i'd advise.

If you're kitted with lifejackets, killcords (a spare is advisable) and your clothing is sufficient, you'll be good to go.
Although insurance isn't compulsory, I'd strongly advise you to purchase some - God forbid you need to call upon it, but you just never know . :no

This isn't my outing and i won't be attending, i just thought i'd jump on the post and give you some pointers as it's late and you might not get many replies tonight.

Enjoy the forum, and enjoy your trip out with the boy, theyre a cracking bunch. :respect

Martin :cheers
