Simon from Bristol

Post by simonb » 13 Sep 2015, 21:33

Hi All

So I'm Simon from Bristol. Some of you may know me from Facebook. Anyway I'm mostly a ribber and classic boat fan, I also posses an unhealthy interest in vintage outboards :D

Always happy to help out and always up for a day on the water.
Look forward to catching up with some of you soon
Simon

Thanks Paul. Yes I do seem to have some slight obsessive issues with Vintage Outboards. Those Mercs are a particular favorite of mine, designed by a brilliant engineer who had absolutely zero regard for any poor unsuspecting soul that wished to do something simple like change an impeller!!!!
Right I suppose I had better try and get myself a SIB at some point :D

Thanks for the warm welcome :-)

I'm not sure I can help much on the SIB front as I don't have one and my RIB is little on the large size and other than that I have some hard boats :-(
Anyway it's nice to be here.

Peter - its getting close to a Vintage - What motor is it?

Its the classic triple cylinder - 1987 Yam 40 2 stroke. Been going over the electrics this week and managed to get it sparked into life yesterday eve ( not sure the neighbours liked me ! ) .

Such a simple motor to work on with everything so easy to get to and not too big or heavy to work on on my own !

Its the original rig to the small rib ( again easier to work on than big stuff ) - my days of 50knt+ boats are behind me .....
