Re: Mariah Diablo,
The cooling water exits through the exhaust, it's the same for most boats.
The water enters the exhaust in the risers and is blown out with the exhaust gases.
Trouble is that after you shut the engine down there is still moisture in the exhaust and this has a tendency to condensate in the exhaust port above the exhaust valve.
Hence the state of the exhaust valve!
We're not talking large amounts of water, but over time the exhaust valve corrodes and lets water into the combustion chamber.
I had a misfire that got worse on my last outing and this was the problem.
The engine is 15 years old and has spent it's life in the brine. I replaced the risers back in 2014 and the poor state of the old ones probably didn't help the situation....

Re: Mariah Diablo,
I had no idea for the inboards. Looks good. Nice to have clearance to work. On your re-assembly photo you have my favorite tool of choice laying near starboard, a BFH.
Wrote a note said, 'back in a minute'. Bought a boat and I sailed off in it.

Re: Mariah Diablo,
To be honest it's a joy to work on.
I can get all around the engine and not struggle.
That and the fact it's big old tech.
9-R, You've probably come across a few 262 vortec's in your time.
Oh and the BFH.
Thats just the baby.

Re: Mariah Diablo,
Well I suppose this make me a full time Sibber (for the time being)
My trusty hard boat has gone to a new owner now.
New owner only bought the boat and not the trailer, so I had to float the boat onto his new trailer
Oh and the things I do for a sale.

Re: Mariah Diablo,
It's a bit big for a SIB, but it does give me plenty of options when buying another boat9-R wrote:Whatcha going to do with the trailer? SIB or camper in it's future?

Andy B
So the deal has been done and she's gone
..... oh well you've ticked that box and it's time to move on to the next 'itch' mate
It'll be interesting to see the replacement

Re: Mariah Diablo,
Holy Shizzle
I never thought you’d part with that buddy, and I never got to go out in it either
If, and it is a big if - I ever give up the Frib, it’ll be for a cabin version of something.. have to convince the Mrs to flog the caravan first.
