Trim Tabs

Folding Ribs or F-Ribs are a great way of obtaining a hard hull boat but having the flexibility of a sib.
F-Ribs have the 3 or 4 section articulating hinge joint that allow the boat to fold up for ease of storage & transportation. A great idea opening up a whole new world of opportunity.

Trim Tabs

Post by Shaun » 20 Apr 2018, 14:34

Guys

Anyone used Trim Tabs on their RIB/FRIB? do they work? I am thinking adding this to my FRIB430 for when i am solo to minimize bow lift.

Thanks

Hi Shaun,
I’ve tried the stingray junior on my Frib 375 just to see if it made any difference, tbh I found it made a heavy tiller and reduced my speed.. absolutely no positives to it on my Frib.
However, on my Honwave T38ie it was a massive upgrade and I never went out without it.

The Frib hull is remarkably low on drag, try your outboard on zero trim and that should help.

What about that thing that you mount to the lower end of the motor? Seen many reviews but not sure...

That’s what I was referring to buddy. The stingray is a hydrofoil of sorts, they’re the bees knees in my opinion.

Try your boat with the outboard set at the lowest trim and move stuff around in the boat. You shouldn’t need any trim tabs or hydrofoils in a f-rib.
