Launch at Humber Bridge

I thought this might be a good place to launch but just got this back after an enquiry with Humber Rescue who manage the slipway.

I would appreciate peoples thoughts, looks like there is less and less options for me to use the new Frib !

In our experience of the River Humber a Rib with a 15hp engine would not be adequate against the very frequent strong tides we encounter.

I would advise against using your boat on the Humber.

In all fairness I'd say they're talking about a heavy rib with a small outboard. your f-rib weighs very little, the power to weight ratio will be more than adequate i would guess.
However, the Humber is the nearest place to me to get out and about, I wouldn't take my frib and outboard there ever. The Water is more like mud, masses of silt. Imagine all that crap whizzing around the cooling system of your outboard and then trying to exit through the tell tale.
Chances are you could encounter a blockage and the impeller won't last two minutes...

I'd agree with Humber rescue, I'd feel very undergunned in the estuary. How about York, The Boat Yard, Ferry Ln, Bishopthorpe, York YO23 2SB. Not the cheapest, but an easy option.

I'd launch at acaster malbis, york. do the full length of the ouse up to linton and back in a day no worries.

Thanks everyone and sites to launch from really appreciated, does anyone have any more info on these - if you have experience, costs , links etc.

I will google at some point but I work do a lot of work for the NHS so you might guess I am pretty stretched at the minute.

York sounds like a great idea and if I can take the caravan and stay local even better !

York Marine Services on ferry lane, Bishopthorpe have a slipway (steep but concrete), caravan park, shower block and some good pubs a 10min walk away. the cost to launch off a trailer was about £10 quid, a hand launch is a bout £5 plus you can park for free on site. nice riverside walks too.

Acaster Malbis is a bit more dear to launch and no campsite. better for launching larger boats as the slip isnt as steep.

either way, its a nice bezz up the ouse through york on up to linton lock (lock house is a pub).

either way you'll need a river licence for the time you are there...

We covered this a while ago buddy, Several guys made the Ouse trip if i recall correctly, something we northern types need to do again.
