Event Suggestions for 2017
Re: Event Suggestions for 2017
Which lakes in the Lake District can you use powerboats on, anyone know?
Anyone on here know the South Wales coastline?
sounds like you think none of them know. maybe you should tell them. no fribs here that I have seen but plenty of small boats having fun without skippers being tied to passage plans or not giving safety advise

What about
Cornwall
River Themes
Tour the east side of the IOW
Finding a ship wreck and fishing over it
The Chichester / Portsmouth tour
Crossing the channel - OK maybe not! lol
Eastbourne / Newhaven to Brighton and back
Eastbourne AirShow (I think this is in August)

I'm asking because I I don't know where you can go boating in either of those areas, but I'm sure someone on here does know, and both are areas I'd like to explore.

Re: Event Suggestions for 2017
I think we're "over" done on this subject of health and safety now please guys.
This originated as a "where to go boating" thread, and that's where it needs to get back to.....
In regard to the lakes, I think it's mainly a speed limit restriction rather than a craft type one.
Registration is required at some of the parks/lakes
Thankyou
Martin

Re: Event Suggestions for 2017
this sorta shite is why i tend to do alot of stuff on my own like biking and boating...
nay brain ache...
The funny thing with this thread is, you'd need to do more of a risk assessment if you went out for some beers in town with some chums as your more likely to get into grief!!!

Re: Event Suggestions for 2017
here are some ideas we had back in February
1. Southampton Water (Calshot / Warsash) to Newport Harbour (very top of the Medina river) for lunch at the Bargemans Rest, or we can explore the town of Newport.
2. Portsmouth Harbour or Southampton Water to Wooton Creek (lunch at either the yacht club or the Sloop)
3. Osborne Bay and then into Cowes for Lunch
4. Priory Bay picnic
5. East Head picnic / BBQ
6. Exploring the Hamble river and Southampton water (launch from Swanwick)
7. Poole (Baiter slip) to Wareham.
8 Newtown Creek with picnic on the beach to the west of the entrance
9. NeilH and Paul were talking about an east coast trip as well on Sat, but I can't remember where it was from / to

Re: Event Suggestions for 2017
after everyone's mentioned their ideas, how about a poll for the most favorite?
Wrote a note said, 'back in a minute'. Bought a boat and I sailed off in it.

Re: Event Suggestions for 2017
In theory there is no limitation to where "trips in company" can be done, as all it needs is one person with some local knowledge of a slipway and a destination. I guess more trips on the south coast & Scotland have happened as that's where the persons organising each trip just happened to be. So come on guys who's up for suggesting a trip on your bit of coast or inland waterway?
