Mariah Diablo,

Post by Andy B » 24 Oct 2016, 20:17

Here's my Hard hull :D

2001 Mariah Diablo, (Yesterday's Dream)
Running a 4.3L Volvo Penta V6 through an SX leg.
Had this boat about 4 years now.

I keep deciding it's time to move on, but then I take it out and can't part with it....

No way I'd get rid of that. What an awesome boat. Enjoy the scenery of the first pic. Very cool place to anchor up!

My neighbor and friend designs and programs ECU's and electronics for marine engines. He received one of those engines from Volvo at work for testing so he dropped into his ride. With the help of his co-workers, they've really tweaked it and have gotten some serious hp out of it. Said it's a very well built engine. He hasn't divulged what kind of figures he's gotten in test runs probably because he doesn't want his wife to find out...
Wrote a note said, 'back in a minute'. Bought a boat and I sailed off in it.

That's Alum Bay, Isle of Wight.
She's been a good o'l tub, but I would like something I can over night in.
I would also like to get my hands on a nice V8 before we finally run out of fuel ;-)

The plan is 25' Sports cuddy with a 350 Mag on a bravo III outdrive.

Being a bit of a Badge whore the boat that's in my sights is the Mariah Z250 8-)

On the south side the only harbour is Ventnor, and it's tiny. So most people stay on the north side where there are loads of bays, marinas, and harbours to visit.

We all enjoy the fun side of boating, but there's always a down side of running a boat in salt water.
And one thing is for certain, the bigger the boat the bigger the bills....

Here's what happens to the exhaust valves on an inboard engine.
No matter what you do there will always be residual moisture in the exhaust and this is inevitable i'm afraid.

So this end of seasons job was heads off and reconditioned.

Newly reconditioned cylinder heads arrived
So today's job was to put it all back together again. :D

Looking good Andy 8-)
A wee 'skim' = more go go ;-) it's hard to tell from the photos but have they put in steel inserts for the exhaust valves :?: and what was the cause of the brine entering the combustion chambers :?: head gasket, inlet manifold or summit else
Nice work mate and she should be schweet for a 'velly long time' mister :star :drive
:cheers
