Sib trip to the Isle of Wight in March 9th or 23rd

Post by chris moody » 10 Jan 2019, 09:08

I fancy a sib trip across to the Isle of Wight in March. It’s going to be either Ryde harbour or Newport harbour, I have not decided which yet.

The tide times work for both those destinations on Sat 9th and Sat 23rd March, so the trip will take place on one of those dates, weather permitting.

Who’s free on those dates and up for another group outing?

Pretty sure I'm free on either - Portsmouth (Camber) to Ryde would be a nice distance in a SIB & be good chance for anyone less confident to talk to QHM etc .

Newport could be done from Calshot to keep distance manageable ?

Reckon we could be up for this trip, either date sounds good at the moment.

Andy, we’ll be sure to give you a cheery wave as we pass by if you’re in trouble. Just watch out for any passing chain ferries (and the big buggers), as they seem to worry you.

You don’t get much of a journey if you go from Calshot to Newport (other than the sownbit down the river)
I would launch at Warsash - decent slip and a large car park.

Portsmouth to Ryde sounds good - I would like to do Portsmouth with someone who knows what they are doing before I head that way on my own.
