We're off to Black Rock Sands in a few weeks for some much needed R&R.
I fully expected just being able to chuck the SIB into the Pick-Up and pay the usual parking fee for the beach and just chuck the boat in the sea

Apparently not.
You must register your vessel with Gwynedd Council, There's an annual subscription for your vessel, and I.D plates are given, which must be displayed above the water level on both sides of your boat. See Here for the registration fee's
A registration with Gwynedd covers you for Conwy and Anglesey too. If launching from Black Rock, it's a £13 daily fee to cover parking & boat launch. Other sites will have their own charges.

Just a few pointers,
A Kill Chord is compulsory & must be signed on the boat, in view!
£3million third party insurance is compulsory
You must be 18 or over to use a power boat, or have levels I or 2 RYA (personal water craft certificate of competence)

Registration is quick and easy, from posting my registration to receiving my Permit.... 4 Days !!!

I'm off to St Davids in Pembrokeshire this BH weekend on Blootac's recommendation to boat out to the isle of Skommer (weather permitting) and hadn't given a thought to any restrictions or permits etc
He hasn't mentioned anything in his original thread so here's me keeping my fingers crossed he's not forgotten to mention any red tape required for us to launch

Nope, no restrictions in south wales (or at least the vast majority...) and none where we're going Paul.

North Wales seems to be full of money making schemes. I suspect that you only need to register if you're using the slipway, i.e. if you pop off onto the beach then you might be alright but probably not worth the effort.

All the registration schemes around here are the main reason I haven't launched off North Wales yet.

Popping off the beach is a no go. It's strict regulation!
Harbour masters and beach patrols are regular according to a mate.
You'll be a little better off Phil, with your 10hp you drop into the cheaper category, but you'll have to show the outboard at registration.
I didn't fancy a week of 2stroke grrrrrrrrr in the lug'ole, so I opted for the silence of the 4stroke (with the stainless and hydrofoil on)

Hi martin I maybe have a solution to the launch saga at blackrock sands,
Cricceth is roughly 10 minutes away its a lovely open beach where you can launch from, there is a slip and a harbour office but iam sure he wont mind,then there isnt any fee.

Cheers pugwash, I've stopped at Criccieth a few years ago. You still need to register the boat for the waters and the compulsory insurance and killcord apply, but a cheaper launch is always greatly appreciated.
Bloody great place, but the sea's can be a bit tricky at times around black rock.

If your over that way you have to visit morpha nefyn porth dinllean there is a slipway just before the golf club its an amazing place
Across the bay there is a pub called ty coch its been on a few films well worth a visit,
