Steering system

A sib is a soft floor inflatable boat that will roll up and fit into a bag to ease with carrying or storage.
There are many different floor designs, exampoles include - Air floor mat, Wooden/Metal boards over an Inflatable Keel or a High Pressure V Floor.

Steering system

Post by Speedo » 20 Apr 2018, 13:16

Has anyone found/made a steering system that works on a Honwave T32?

There are a few on google for other boats (in the US) which seem to lay across and fix to the tubes, with the cables running along the tubes.

I would love to get a similar set up for my SIB (if it wasn't silly money!!)

The T32 has a V floor so fixing anything isn't possible.

Your only real option would be something like this.

That looks brilliant Andy, not sure how it fixes on but it seems it would do the job!

Have you seen anywhere that sells them?

Here is another option. Not sure if it is available in UK but it only runs $70 USD

http://www.boatstogo.com/central-consol ... e-boat.asp

Just need a wheel and cable kit, maybe another $100 USD

I will try to search for the same product available in UK though, hope everything works out!

Not sure that would sit right on my V floor though?

If you want steering, you really want a vessel with a hard floor. Ideally you want either a wood/ally floor sib but a rib would be best. There would be too much flex in any form of airdeck boat to really have a workable system (aside from the sponson mounted one already posted at the top of the thread which mounts to a seam with heavy duty eyelets already fixed to the sponsons). Steering allows you to go faster in rougher conditions due to less steering feedback and more accuracy plus having weight further forward. In addition a steering system takes up alot of room inside the boat.

or, if you have two bench seats on sliders, you could mount a steering binacle on the forward bench seat and adjust the distance between the seats to get the right reach...
or just saw this...in an airdeck...

If it has t*ts, tyres or floats......it's gonna cost ya!

If you want some pics of the seam mounted ones mentioned above, there is a T32 for sale on e-bay atm with one fitted with some decent detailed pictures. E-bay item 183245992416
