Quick report on the first trip, very windy on arrival at one of the slips on Loch Earn, we choose to use the one belonging to the new Loch Earn Brewery, a report on them will have to wait as they were shut ...... bit of a missunderstanding on my part. The slip is right on the eastern end of the Loch right at the mouth of the river, a bit shallow but no issues. There are several slips on the Loch the caravan site has one on the South side in the lee of a piece of land which would give calmer launching in a Westerly wind.
Very choppy water with rain squalls almost put us off, but after a 30-45 min wait things improved. They do say if you don't like the weather in Scotland just wait !
Easy launch in shallow water and pulled to the (very nearby)jetty, saw us removing the car/trailer to the hotels large car park across the road.
Strong head wind and some large chop/white horses saw a bumpy exhilarating ride up the loch, slight concerns over the previous owners transom mod were soon put to rest, with the right extra ballast this little rib leaps onto the plane. No handling problems at all. Lunch in The Clachan Cottage Hotel, Lochearnhead and a total of just over 2hours blasting around, before an equally easy recovery. Launch fees £12, which includes use of the car park, facilities etc (when their open !)
