I've Just Got To Do It.

Post by Martin » 07 May 2016, 17:25

Ever since our first FRIB sea trial in March 2015 I've been busting to get one of these things.
Sooo, I've finally made my mind up and I'm biting the bullet.

My big question is trailers and launch wheels please.
Do we have a definitive answer on the most suitable trailer for the frib 360/375 ?

Has anyone found any above spec launch wheels, I'm likely to be launching at times with my little girl already in the boat, with the outboard on and equipment in, the wheels need to be very substantial.

On another note...Heads up for anyone wanting my set-up :o
Honwave 3.8ie @ 48kg
Suzuki DF15 4stroke @44kg (2008 with low-ish hours)
Fitted with Honwave - over 100kg launch wheels
My legendary homemade bow canopy
A genuine and nearly new Honwave seat bag
Repair kit, One spare new Hawkley Roberts valve, Valve key, and a Honwave seat mount kit with adhesive.

Because it's a big old WWworld out there

As above Martin, you will not get anything better than the beach master wheels as Gybemaster has bought but you need to decide if they suit your demands. I would love some but I made use of the ones from my last boat to save some dosh (as a poor retired old tart) but make sure you consider the removable ones Martin as they offer more flexibility in use.

I'm pleased you have seen the light and joined our little family of fribbers mate, which have you gone for.

Thanks for the heads up on the beachmasters, i'll keep them in mind and see who comes up with an alternative if any???

I'm going to keep you all in suspenders with my choice of new craft... But be sure, when it arrives, you'll be the first to see it :P

Well I am certain you will enjoy the 360 Martin :rofl

There are NO wheels to compare with Beachmasters mate, I promise.

It was the videos on their website that sold me on the Beachmasters. Plus I've read some really good reviews on them. I went for the removable ones. They are so light that they even float.

For the amount of weight you're putting in the boat when launching the Beachmasters are definitely the way to go. I think I'm going to bite the bullet and order some. As for trailers;

Who needs em.

Martin

Launch wheels wise it's all down to the size of outboard folks are going to fit to the F-Rib.
Small hp motors will give a wider choice but 4 stroke 15hp and above restrict tiller movement so the shorter 'dumpy' wheels are a must :!:
The F-Rib HQ supplied wheels are like this

an alternative are these with a pivot

Same principle of working of a spring locating pin but with a pivot you don't have to remove the arm to raise/lower them :|
