iOS & Navionics

I've been looking at the chart, plotter, fish finder scenario for some time now, although I like the lowrance elite 4 HDi, I'm trying to keep things to a minimum size wise, so I've been checking out the Navionics system to work with the iPad. It uses the same map & detailing system as the lowrance but without the additional bulk of a battery and fish finder/plotter unit.

I can buy a transducer to work alongside iOS and Navionics, it's a wireless device that does pretty much the same as any transducer.
The maps come in at £42.99 for uk/Ireland/Holland, with full inland lakes/sea information.
Waterproof iPad case £45
And the fish finder kit comes in at about £170

Does anyone run this type of thing, or does anyone have any views on it please ?

That stuff is way over my head Martin, I have a Hummingbird 383c combo unit which came on a kayak I bought. If I were to buy another, it would be Garmin for one reason, the connection between transducer/battery to the head unit is better than any other I have seen. Connections are the biggest pain with fish finder units but the Garmin design is very good.
The other aspect is that the mounting system can also be poor on some makes, Hummingbird for one, but again the garmin mount is superb.

It's a transducer that has a wifi hotspot built in so you can connect your phone and tablet to it. not *THAT* cheap but not totally unreasonable either.

Yup, bargain, although it's nothing special. ...
Though it'll be like cleaning windows with toilet paper.. It'll do the job to a degree
It's not just the maps I'm after, I want the whole lot but without un-nescessary extra devices.

The T300 is transferable and covers all the bases, I'll do a bit more homework...
I was hoping someone might run it, and could give me an honest end user review. I suppose it's a little too new to expect proper reviews yet.

It's still looking very appealing to me as an all round fix, sooooo..
I've invested In a LIFEPROOF FRE for my ipad air.

That looks like a nice cover and ticks all the boxes
Makes a change to see a cover to fit and cover the buttons, camera and ports in the correct places
So when are you going to do the download and give it a trial

I'm being a bit cheeky Paul...
I can get a free trial of the software, but think it's only for a month, so i'm waiting til I go to Black Rock in June/July (whenever it is ) and i'll do the free trial then.
If, and I mean IF it ticks every box, then I gladly put my very short Yorkshire Arms in my very deep Yorkshire Pockets and buy the software and the wifi transducer.
I tested the case empty before I was daft enough to dip the ipad lol, I aint that brave
