advice please
advice please , ive knocked a lump out of my skeg , dont ask , and bent it a little . ive been told to get a blow torch on it , heat it well hot , and i will be able to straighten it out . and then fit a skeg guard , the motor runs fine , no discernable adverse effects . the question is can i heat it up without removing any of the engine parts or lower leg covers. any opinions welcomed .T I A

Re: advice please
My suggestion.... assuming you hit something?
You check your insurance and get an estimate from your friendly merc dealer ... and claim for a new one.
A bit of paperwork and admin and 10 minutes and 5 bolts and literally like new.
Call if you want to chat through it.

Re: advice please
Hello,
I strongly recommend that you remove all heat-sensitive parts, including motor parts and leg covers, before proceeding. The heat from the flashlight could damage other components if applied too close to them.
Speaking of taking care of your equipment, it reminds me of a conversation I had recently with a friend who works in the yacht charter business. He was telling me how crucial it is to maintain every part of the yacht to ensure safe and enjoyable voyages. Just as with yachts, where every detail counts to ensure trouble-free sailing, making sure your fin is properly repaired is essential to the performance and safety of your equipment.
