New Sib owner. Wanting a few other sib buddies Redcar to whitby

Post by ENGDyna » 16 Mar 2021, 18:53

Hello guys, Danny here from Redcar. New SIB owner here. New to boats and boat fishing in general. I normally lure fish for pike on the tees but I'm hoping to get into bass/pollock/cod and hopefully ling on my 3m wetline 300AD sib. Been buying bass type lures as most my pike stuff are far too heavy and big. Got a small yamaha 4st 4hp engine so obviously realistically only targeting calm seas with less than 10mph gusts. No more than a mile or two out etc. I've bought all the necessary safety equipment, just need to buy a fish finder, looking at the garmin striker vivid 4cv, along with naveonics app for wrecks etc, waiting on my life jackets and Anchor set/drift. Already have saltwater approved strong fishing reels/rods, vhf licensed now too. Hoping to meet and head out with other people whilst i gain confidence on the boat.

I've been out the sea once already as a test at Sunderland. So I'm not a total n00bie lol.

Cheers guys, if anyone's on fb I've no issue adding! 👍

Hi Danny, welcome aboard.
We’ve a member from Redcar known as @Stray who’s a very keen fisherman.
I’ve not been out at Redcar yet but I really must make an effort as the in-laws live up there. 😂

Enjoy the forum,
Martin :cheers

Thanks mate. Yeah would be great to head out with other sib or alike owners, be good from a safety aspect too. Atleast whilst I learn the ropes. Not too much different to freshwater predators, find there likely habitat, decent pressure, good river level etc, ie not in flood etc. It's just a much bigger and clearer volume of saltwater, taking into account wave height, swells, gusts etc 😂

I'm more than willing to meet up anywhere between the gare and towards whitby. Hopefully a couple see, I'm not gunna be stamping on marks etc, it's more a learning curve atm, catching anything is just a bonus. Coming off the back of a great season River Tees pike fishing (even with alot of it non allowed with lockdown stuff) . Managed my pb Pike 20.5lb in November and had several double runs including 2 in the snow a month ago which was amazing, put some daft videos on YouTube of them. But the boat setup is here to stay, preferably I'd want a pokier engine atleast for the sea, the 4st 4hp be ideally suited for the river... 🙂

Edit.... Can't seen to click on the stray member

I fish the Tees myself too Danny. I use a 3.5hp for the river and takes me as far as i want to go. Usually up to Eaglescliffe.

aww niceone, you can get as far as Low Worsall on a boat mate. Do you not go on the coast at all? Once the river season closed season ends I'll hit up on the River with you sometime for Pike. I caught my pb in November 20.5lb, but had a great few sessions deadbaiting over winter. 🙂

I usually just plug for pike but not too serious, but have had quite a few over the years. Getting peed off with the Barrage crew, as they turn a blind eye to swimmers using the slipway illegally, but come running for me for £9.

No problem If you want to tag along, we launch near Granville Terrace. We start going out when the weather warms up a bit and it's less than 2ft of swell with light winds. Have you launched from the beach before?

Nice Frib. I completely forgot about this site since my purchase. I've got a 9.8hp on the sib now. When you next out mate.

In the next couple of weeks, hopeully, the weather's starting to settle. I've got a kn&ckered hand at the moment and then I have to fit a new engine in my tractor.
