I have the Extreme 350 and I am making new longer bunks so they will support the transom when the engine is mounted on the back from 120 to 180cms, using 100m x 50mm

Needs some advice Lads & :help
Looking at the photos of your trailer sonny1 you have the bunks positioned half on the tubes half on the hull is this the correct way to set up the trailer for a 350 sib boat.

I have a roller at the back of my trailer, I see you have an extending padded support that is supporting the transom, is this recommended and if so where can you buy this.

Also when towing the boat what is the correct way to support and secure the engine.

Being new I hope it all makes sense and Thanks
Hi have you considered contacting Extreme and buying the transom support and removing the roller? You won't need to extend the bunks then to support the transom??

I have been told to strap the transom down to the trailer and the leg of the outboard so that the trailer takes all the weight. I haven't done it yet though. Would be good to see if anyone has any images of their sibs all strapped up :)

Thanks for the reply.
I've recently bought a pair of them, equal to your's.
Do you have any photo with the motor and the wheels placed in the transom that you could show?

To be honest all hull type and trailer combinations are different and there is no hard right or wrong solutions.

Yours is probably even more unique being essentially a catamaran hull. @Gray seems to be setting his up well and reckon worth following his lead.

Personally, for an ally floor sausage keel sib or your air floor cat, I’d place the bunks flat under the edge of the floor, hard up to the tubes and extending under transom. Supporting the floor this way will also readily centre the boat for recovery and keep it centred whilst trailering. I’d also deflate sausage keel whilst on trailer and ditch any keel rollers or transom pads...can be a pain when recovering, and best not to create any point loads on a soft hull.

Fit some towing eyes (or utilise wheel brackets) and strap transom tightly down to trailer at rear. Strap bows down to winch post to stop boat sliding forward on trailer under harsh braking. Try and avoid any straps over tubes.

You’ll probably have to partially raise motor when towing. Turn motor on full lock and strap lower leg down to trailer to stop it bouncing and damaging tilt lock.

That's a great help so far :thumbsup will follow Greys example and put the bunks tight against the tubes also deflate the sausage tube.

I will have my new bunks finished tomorrow with carpet on them so all goes well will do a full report with photos I will probably have a few more questions before I have finished.

also deflate the sausage tube.
Sorry, not clear on my post. :no
Just meant deflate sausage keel on a traditional sib.
No need on your Elling. :thumbsup

hi@Mattallica did you try extreme trailers in southampton, because i find it odd that ash marine can supply an extreme trailer cheaper than the main dealer who are nearer to you .it doesnt matter now as youve got it but i did wonder whether you spoke to them direct . anyway have fun and heres hoping the weather brightens up
I’ve bought two extreme trailers now, both of which were much cheaper from Ash Marine than anywhere else including Extreme in Southampton. More surprising is that Ash Marine are supplied by extreme Southampton so I think the Southampton bunch are missing a bit of a trick here.
