New Honwave ???

Post by Martin » 08 Oct 2020, 09:36

I got some links to images the other day from compo..
I was unaware at the time of any changes happening to the Honwave. I can’t say yet if this is legit or a wind up.

Anyone else heard or seen anything?

Here’s what I have, just to wet the appetite..

Martin :cheers

Only what @koalauk posted on here back in August: viewtopic.php?f=63&t=4384

The headline fact being the possible removal of the controversial trim tabs.

But those pics show inboard oar storage and the loss of the grab rope and the flap that holds it.

I await more details with great interest.

Now that looks nice! If I didn't love my F-Rib so much I'd be wanting one of them.
Why am I here - I should be in my boat fishing!!

I always said I’d have another Honwave and that one does indeed look great.
However, Like you... I too am far too fond of my f-rib to swap it for anything right now.

Not wishing to start a massive debate but what do you like better about your F-Rib ? I quite fancy one myself.

Not wishing to start a massive debate but what do you like better about your F-Rib ? I quite fancy one myself.
1: Ease and speed of set up
2: Quick to plane and hold there at lower speed
3: Improved fuel Consumption
4: Great handling - really grips the water in a turn, and is way more capable than me in the rough stuff
Negatives
1: Does slam a bit in heavy chop - Just slow down!
2: Not quite as compact when folded as my old Honwave 380ie _ But oddly enough, I actually find it easier to handle in and out of my pickup, I use a pair of wheelchair ramps to slide it in, the Honwave used to drag a bit.

That's about it really. Would I go back to a Honwave - yes, if they stopped making F-Ribs.
But it's all down to personal choice and of course cost and what you want to do with it.
The choice is yours, I promise that whichever you choose, you'll have a ball!

Great answer Warder,
I couldn't really add anything to that, other than - If they no longer made the F-Rib i'd buy a Honwave T38ie or it's new relation/replacement if it's as good as the T38ie we know and love.
I love my frib 375s but i still drool at the Frib 430 though

Yeah that was me :)

Damn I already bought Yam380s

Might buy the new IE3 and sell 380s
I would like to see the trim tabs or the lack of it. It's nice to see anchor pads etc.

I am assuming still a short shaft ?
