Hi @harrison, and thank you for such a full reply. I appreciate both your time and your thoughts. My splashing doesn't sound much worse than yours, and it looks like I need to accept this splashing as part of the motor's charm! I've tried trimming out to 4th position from transom, but almost immediately had ventilation issues. I like to try out solutions, so maybe a small curved deflector under the splash plate might be an interesting way to test the theory. If I make one up, I'll post the results.

Thank you again. This is the first forum I have ever joined, and its brilliant!

Hopefully I'll be able to find/join an F-Ribs and Sibs outing in Kent / Sussex / Hampshire before the season is over.

The boat was fully to pressure for all of this (0.25 bar hull and keel, topped up after 15 mins on the water).
Just a thought. Don’t Volaire’s run with the floor/hull at 0.4 bar.

Hi. So I thought, and that's what the Excel site says. But the floor PRV hisses away at 0.4 bar, and Terry Wright @ Excel confirmed that they run fine at hull pressure. So, Ross-L, does yours hold 0.4 bar? If so, maybe I have a problem PRV.

Yeah mine holds air fine at .4 bar

Don't quite know how those prv's work but sounds like yours is faulty or maybe your pump is faulty and is tripping it(not sure if it will close when it's safe again or let's most of the air out before closing)

Thanks. I'll get the boat out and test it properly in the garden. I've got two Bravo / Scoprega pumps both with pressure dials, so I'll try both again at a variety of increasing pressures...and see at what pressure the PRV starts to hiss. Then it sounds like a call to Terry again at Excel. Much appreciate the help.

Hi again. I did the test on my Volaire hull chamber today, using both my original Bravo BP12 pump, and then also with the bigger/better Bravo/Scopraga BTP12 pump. I only had the small pump when I first got the Volaire, and that was when I had the apparent problem with the PRV. Today, I pumped up first with the bigger pump, in increments of 0.025 bar on the dial, all the way from 0.25 up to 0.4 bar. Only a tiny bit of hiss from the PRV at around 0.4, which stopped almost immediately, and so an acceptable tolerance. I then tried the smaller pump using the same increments on the dial, and the PRV went into full release below 0.35 bar on the dial, which suggests that the pump is over-pressurizing significantly. More importantly, it also means there is nothing wrong with the boat! I'm now looking forward to trying out the ride on a full-pressure hull! Thanks @harrison and @Ross-L for your help :D

Glad you got it sorted i had a feeling it would be the pump, it should make a big difference, I get the gurgling noise with my 20hp merc at slow speeds but no noticeable splashing with 1 person or 4, 2 collies and a load of gear at slow/wot so you shouldn't have any issues fingers crossed.

Thank you. Looking forward to an even better ride!

Can I ask, have you raised your motor at all?
