Re: 14th June, Sunday On The Solent
Great day on the water guys.
The dreaded Solent chop certainly sliced, diced and liquidised us little boats today, but that didn’t stop us having a hoot. Chris managed to find us some flattish water here and there to wind on a few revs.
Good to meet ‘The Slad’ who stuck with us minnows in one of his Highfields....hope we didn’t ruin your day. Enjoyed the picnic in Osborne Bay anchored up with the Solent set...loved the yacht with a 7m/200hp tender in tow! Also great to see Sonny and his new XS rib....not jealous at all!
Briefly met up with Roy and his rib buddies, Paul and AndyB in his smart new Ribcraft.
Anyways, cracking first real day out in ‘stumpy’ the pocket rocket 340...ace.

Re: 14th June, Sunday On The Solent
Great day out, didn’t slow me down at all, pleasure meeting you all.
Yes the 7m tender was a bit of a sight, as was the mackerel and bass our Chris managed to bag. I went to Cowes after lunch, it cleared up and was glassy all afternoon, even had to take the jacket off. I was out until about 16:00.
Must do it again soon, and get us out in one of the quicksilvers for a days fishing once distancing restrictions are lifted

Re: 14th June, Sunday On The Solent
Hey folks. Great day (once the chop subsided). @harrison’s new RIB “stumpy” is a great little boat and goes like a rat up a drain pipe and cuts the water brilliantly. I have a few snippets of video which I will try and stitch together - unfortunately it was too dammed rough to zip along with the camera in one hand most of the time.
It was good to finally catch something in the Solent after about a year of nothing, even if they were too small to keep.

Re: 14th June, Sunday On The Solent
Lovely to see you all. I had a load of fun.
I got beaten around a bit to start with, but things smoothed out as the day went on. I think this "selfie" demonstrates how the early part of the day went.
Any sort of pace just had the boat smashing itself to pieces. Most stuff was well lashed down, but the seat with the plotter on it just kept bouncing out. I can take a little bit of spinal compaction, but watching my stuff trying to exit the boat is no fun.
Definitely ended up being a fairly physical day. Which after a couple of months of reduced activity was especially exhausting. I'm feeling a bit battered today.
When are we doing it again?
