Fenders

Folding Ribs or F-Ribs are a great way of obtaining a hard hull boat but having the flexibility of a sib.
F-Ribs have the 3 or 4 section articulating hinge joint that allow the boat to fold up for ease of storage & transportation. A great idea opening up a whole new world of opportunity.

I have 2 of those so called rib fenders, I find them worse than useless as they are never at the right height for the various jetties I moor at. I reckon they will be ideal against a wall though. I have bought 4 fenders (2 sets of 2) where the rope can pass right through which enables me to have a fender on top of the tubes as well as over the side.

I have done this as I said to protect the side of the tube and top because I found on some jetties my boat would go just under the boardwalk and scratch. It was a bugger to find the fenders with a hole right through. Eventually found them on ebay I think. I'll try and find it and post the link.

The flat fenders are a pain because if you set them low enough to protect the side, there is little or no protection on top. Set to high and the side is exposed. I had thought about making fresh holes and using them vertically but then decided I like the dual fender idea.

Agreed regarding flat fenders, but mine are nor flat but curved, which can easily be adapted to the tubes. I've choosed the one with big size.
