It was good to see more pics, a nice looking boat, hope you have lots of fun.
Seat position always tricky to get right - such an individual thing. I often have to stand at the helm of a boat because I'm too short to see otherwise - on the 4.8 I have the choice of standing or sitting. When safety boating I often stand and use seatrest as a leaning point like Harrison as it gives me greater vision but heading out into bay I'm often seated.

(Personal choice & comment rather than instructor view as don't know individual set ups)

Here is the video of @sonny1's maiden voyage.

This is the edited one - not the 1 and a quarter hour uncut epic!

New boat looking ‘smokin hot’ there @sonny1. Must feel great to at long last get it wet after all this this lockdown shite! :drive

Fine example of @ChrisParish taking early avoiding action, altering course around the jet-skis, despite being the stand on vessel.

@ChrisParish, also enjoyed the uncut epic vid. Great footage of you buzzing around in the T38. Even though ideal conditions, still showcased how well they ride when correctly set up. :thumbsup

thanks @ChrisParish for the footage. I forgot to ask if you got very wet when the jetski came so close and appeared to deliberately try to get you wet. and to Ian. @harrison your right it is good after having it in the garage so long to finally give it a run. I really would like you to give it a run for me sometime and give me some tips on trimming if at all possible. what I never told anyone was that when I got home I unhitched the trailer and promptly reversed straight into it. nasty dent in tailgate. ho hum. Still a good day :thumbsup even so

The guy in the jet ski almost managed to drench me, but missed by a few feet. He was yelling “yaaahhoooooo!!” As he went past.

@harrison thanks for your kind comments about the T38 - It was going great guns.

We had a great day out and I am hoping to do it again some time soon.

Whilst I’d love the chance to crew on your new ride, I fear you’re ‘gonna need a bigger boat’ mate with all this social distancing.

You’ll soon master the benefits of engine trim.
Very basically, for maximum straight line performance trim out until prop starts to ventilate, then trim back down a bit. For good hole shot from rest and prop grip in tight turns under power you need to be trimmed in a bit more than the normal straight line position.

You can also fine tune trim (out) to raise bow and trim (in) to lower bow for different sea conditions...such as a head or following seas.

Hope that helps. :thumbsup

PS: Treat trim gauge as a guide only. Neutral on the gauge will not necessarily be the optimum setting for your boat/motor combo.

great video I am jealous our slipway doesn't open until mon 1st june so only a week to go .I use my trim gauge as a reference I experiment with different trim positions in various conditions and make a mental note of what the gauge is showing when im happy that the boat is happy then I know where to go on the gauge to get me near where I want to be then your constantly making small adjustments as you go .as I have very little time in the new humber I am still finding its best

heaven forbid that I was meaning to be on the boat with you @harrison, the intent was that if the opportunity arose that you might take the boat out on your own and give me your overall opinion, not only trimming but general handling. :IANW

I bit the bullet and took the boat out today in poole harbour, the wind was horrendous whipping up quite a chop, only stayed out an hour and a quarter. on the plus side launch and recovery went well and I had my new nookie pro bib salopettes and storm hoodie . they claim its virtually a dry suit and after today I can see why . its an excellent combination, not cheap though but worth the money. one other thing ,the last time out @ChrisParish and i covered 30 miles and my mercury 60 used a smidgeon under 20 litres. im happy with that but what do others think of that? :drive

@sonny1 sounds about right :thumbsup

Fuel wise we average around 0.5 to 0.6 l/Nm.
An easy 22knot cruise at 4500rpm will easily better that, whilst coming on/off plane in a difficult sea destroys it.

We are also slightly under propped as sized for towing. :whistle
