Railblaza & Scotty mounts

Post by eddzoid » 15 Feb 2020, 23:28

Has anyone added glue on mounts to their F-rib? If so has it affected how the boat folds when it away? Thanks

Hi eddzoid and :welcome to the forum!

I know of a couple of people who have used those glue on / stick on mounts. @Martin has used the quickports (the small round ones) on his f-rib to fasten his spray dodger on and @Mitch has used one of the cleatport rib mounts up at the bow to fasten his anchor to. I have several mounts on my boat, but non of the glue on ones although I am considering it.
Folding wise, you just have to be careful where you put them. Unpack you boat and using something like masking tape, mark where the folds occur. Stay clear if these regions and you should have no trouble at all!

Welcome aboard Eddzoid.
Yes, as Chris says - I have the adhesive mounts for my bow dodger and many other mounts i've not yet attached, but fitted in a place where the folding doesn't occur causes no problems whatsoever... That said beware of anything at the transom as the bow & mid section finally fold into there.

Enjoy the forum, and maybe pop on the introduce yourself page where you can tell us about your set up and show us some pics..
We love pictures on Fribs and Sibs.

Slightly of topic, but the Borika FASTen mount system fairly recently became available here in the UK. Thought worth a heads up.

Yea, and I have the only catalogue that shows every bit they produce.
Boatworld say they are going to import much more of this product, and I can vouch that there is far more to this stuff than currently available.

There is some good gear here from Borika coming to our shores this year !

It’s similarly priced to railblaza, but they appear to have a greater range of stuff.

I'd like to see a test of strength of the borika stuff in comarison to the super strong railblaza.
& Will they supply new if they do break, as railblaza will ?

I can testify that the Borika stuff is much better than Railblaza having just bought a load of attachments for my boat. I have always used Railblaza but this stuff is much better designed and built.

Yeah, look good quality to me too, and on the whole cheaper to boot. Massive range of kit available if Boatworld do decide to widen their range.

http://borika.ua/en/production/133

Only have one item to date, a transducer mount to clear those pesky floor tabs on the T38. At £35 including mount, much cheaper than the opposition.

With a bit of IKEA chopping board, all mounted through existing lifting eye, so no extra holes in transom.
