If you have a 6hp outboard what would your aux be? Maybe just go dual 3hp? :rofl

If you buy a new outboard I wouldn’t bother with an aux. You have oars.

I’m with @ChrisParish on this one.

Big advocate here of aux motors, but seriously, on a 275. No room, get real, it’s just too damn small. :yay

Think you’re getting hung up on weight here. Yeah, a 275 is light and ‘The Gurnard’ goes where no man dares in his, but for a few kg more you can go for extra length, which has a much greater advantage in terms of seakeeping, comfort, and efficiency. A 330 F-Rib is probably as fast, if not quicker than a 275 with a 6hp. As mentioned, if you’ve got transom wheels on, then no need to lift when folded, use it like a trolley as Stray does.

I like the idea of twin 3hp engines. I think that would look cool. Utterly ridiculous, but cool.

I have a tiny tanaka 1.2 which I'm sure will fit alongside a 6 and weighs about 6kg. I have no idea if it will push the boat but might be enough to get me back in slowly as the currents here are not that strong and the wind is usually blowing towards the shore but we shall see, i might not even need it if the oars work ;-) but it gives me something to play around with ive been dying to stick the tiny thing on something though it might be more suited to a rubber ring :scratch .... The main outboard I have in mind will be a sukie 6hp with very low hours and I have a lead on a second hand frib too.. Yes the 330 i have considered but really for just me in nice weather I think I will be fine in the 275 and perhaps upgrade later if I need anything bigger.

Thats the one, sounds like an amplified bee on steroids... got it for my Yak but never got around to fitting it... picked it up of ebay for a steal.. The latter vid is the one they stick on kayaks now though pedal powered, amazing how far technology has come...... :geek:

I think you may well be able to fit an aux - but - being able to use it and steer may be a different matter. Be interested to see if you can get it to work.
Why am I here - I should be in my boat fishing!!
