And so it begins!

Post by Goon » 23 Jun 2019, 17:53

Hello fellow boaters.

Steve here got redirected from facebook to join the fold. Been looking for a sib since coming back from holiday last week. Did lots of research following and decided on an excell 3.5 vanguard tho i dont pick up until next week as im having launch wheels installed for ease when sibing solo. Im quoting about for a 15hp Suzuki outboard atm i think thats my favoured choice.

Anyway getting lost abit here.. me and my mrs are here to find any folk that could help get us started as we are new to boats and would love to experienced minds to go out with.

Im based in derby so pretty central for outings

I have lots to say so ill end it here and shut up.

Nice to be here.

Steve.

Hi Steve, Welcome aboard..
The excels are well built boats and have a good following.. Fingers crossed it suits your needs.
The Suzuki is a cracking engine without a doubt, Though bare in mind the 9.9hp, 15hp and the 20hp are the same weight... So if money isn't so much of an issue i'd be tempted to look at the 20hp.

Enjoy the forum,

Martin :cheers

Hey Goon, welcome to the madhouse. Some good chat and occasionally, very occasionally some good advice can even be found here.

@Martin not going mad. Don’t think Excel make a 3.5. Assume Goon is going for the 335.

PS: Also based in same land locked city. :thud

Harrison out of interest as your local. Where do you launch from the most.? I need a nice large easy place to run in my new motor. I'm looking into Carsington water if allows motor boats but I'm not holding my breath

Thinking driving up to Scarborough harbour and trying there. Tho I'm wary about the sea for my first launch. Id most likely never be heard from again haha

Im not sure canals would be ideal for this but when its ran in its something i will try.

Any recommendations would be great :cheers

Very interested in any ride outs this year if one is organised :thumbsup

A day out on Ullswater (Lake District) is a great place to start..
Launch at Pooley Bridge and you have free run of the whole lake.
10mph Speed limit applies, no need to register or anything at Ullswater.
