Have you got a pic of the current fitting Fly?

Here’s the originally supplied bayonet fitting on the right, which it turns out, is incompatible with my 430’s D-7 valves. It was glued on so I had to cut off the hose and replace it with the Leafield fitting that came with the FRIB.

The Leafield fitting fits perfectly but this one doesn’t have the spring to hold open the valve during inflation. The end result is that about half of the valves are too stiff to be opened by the Bravo pump first stage and the pump switches into the second stage piston mode. While this gets the job done, it takes about three times longer than it should. I’ll be ordering a new fitting with the spring and using this one on my foot pump where it won’t matter.

As a side note, my little 8ah battery showed no signs of slowing down despite using the more power consuming piston mode to inflate most of the boat. Still showed 12.5v (~80% charge)!

I've not seen the connection on the left before Fly but I have chopped what I didn't want and inserted my own which is what you are showing, I guess to the right?

The other way around actually. The pump came with the bayonet fitting on the right, the one with the red spacer. I had to cut that one off. The FRIB came with the fitting on the left which I fit to the pump hose. It’s a genuine Leafield C7/D7 valve adapter that screws into the valve so you don’t have to hold it in place. Here’s a screenshot from the Leafield site, I’m in search of the one with the spring inside.

Realise your over the pond but if having trouble locating an adapter with internal spring, IBS Boat Supplies here in UK stock them. Would imagine they could ship overseas.

Thank you very much for the link! Looks like I can have it in a couple weeks for £14 shipped. Going to check my local rafting shop first but if they don’t have it I’ll go through IBS for sure.

Thank all of you for the great information. I have been using a C7/D7 non-spring adapter and always wanted an adapter that depressed the valve spring during inflation. While using the non-spring adapter with a bravo pump has never been a problem I just ordered a C7/D7 spring type adapter from IBS Boat supplies for shipment to the USA. It is scheduled to arrive in 2 weeks. Timing is not a problem since I have no intent in cutting through the Michigan ice to take out the f-rib this winter. It will be interesting and surly less stress on the pump to have a spring-adapter that opens the valve during inflation. I will let you know in the May.
