It seems unusually quiet on here

Post by chris moody » 08 Oct 2018, 17:56

It seems very quiet on here lately. There were always new posts to read every single day, now when I drop by each day there is often nothing new to read. Has everyone hibernated for winter already?

It's very quiet on here Chris, I've noticed it also and maybe hibernation has set in, although I'm hoping to get out next week.

All the mackerel have gone 😔 or at least I can’t find any. Also I can’t afford a dry suit this year (just got an allotment which it taking my money) so looks like I am out of it now until spring.

I do have three old outboards to do up though: a 4hp Evinrude, a 20hp 1979 Selva and a 9.5hp 1973 Johnson. Just a few projects to keep me and my dad warm this winter! 😝😎
Not a complete idiot - some parts are missing.

Ooh an allotment, that sounds exciting. We just have a small veg plot at the end of our garden.

I understand that a lot of sibbers don't do winter boating. I'm probably a bit unusual (or even weird) in using my sib more in the winter than the summer. But it doesn't stop us talking about boats, and modifications ready for next season, even if we are not actively using them. If fact the forum should be more active as we aren't all out on the water.

Last Sunday's boating was cancelled last minute, but I'm hoping to get out sibbing either next weekend or the weekend after.

Seems I posted something similar a couple of years back. I seem to forget the weather differentiation and that it's still 'summer' here and wondering why everyone is covering up.

Just headed out with the family on Saturday. Kiddos wanted another try at waterskiing to no avail. Was surprised that our 90 was able to pull my big butt up on one ski even though we were fully loaded. It had been over 25 years since the last time I slalom skied so I was a hoopin' and hollerin' like crazy.
Wrote a note said, 'back in a minute'. Bought a boat and I sailed off in it.

I packed the F-Rib away yesterday, it probably won't see the light of day again till April, I'm now concentrating on the winter rock fishing.

I’m not as active on here as I’d like to be, got work overload at the moment and trying to get the house fixed up so we can sell and move elsewhere.

Keeping the forum active is something as simple as coming up with new discussions/topics or sharing your latest mods/purchases etc.. :thumbsup
F-RibsAndSibs.Com.... :whistle
Because it's a big old WWworld out there

I was thinking the same , but then I'm guilty of pulling out of Sunday ( Sorry again Chris .. I'll confirm a new date soon (maybe open it up on here ?) . New job is taking a lot of time from me. I did get the RIB out last week on Sunday to Yarmouth & back and a mates taking my SIB to Salcombe this weekend ...

I've got to find time to speak to experts about prop options and get the templates for my foam teak deck sorted and fix up Andys old tender ...

The weather is unusually warm so I really need to try and make the most of it .. I'm say here in a polo shirt , with all the doors to the garden open without a cloud in site !
