Mount Action Cam to F-Rib

Post by James » 26 Aug 2015, 22:50

Hi

At the moment I attach my Sony Action cam to my head using a strap.

I'd like to be able to attach it to the F-Rib 360

Any ideas?

Thanks

James

I can't speak for any other f-rib user, but I know Paul's been moving his around trying to find something/somewhere to mount his cam.
Last film he did, it was still head mounted, so I guess he's not found anywhere suitable yet :Confused
F-RibsAndSibs.Com.... :whistle

Hi have a look at www.ram-mount.co.uk you'll find something suitable, it takes a bit of thought to find the right components however they have it all :scratch

There are a number of stand up mounts which are used on kayaks some of which come from the USA. I will have a word with some of my kayak fishing chums to see what they have.

The issue is that a kayak is solid plastic so mounting is easy but a SIB or Frib is a different situation. The only place I would mount one is on the transom using a 2 - 3' post but air pressure from speed may be a problem.

The other option is a chest mount because our chest doesn't move around like our heads producing a much more stable film.

There is a Portsmouth video were Sibs are going under bridges.
I wish I had a link

Anyway, it looks like the camera is mounted on top of the engine. That's probably not a bad location - depending on vibration.

Your wish is my command  .......hope it's the link you're referring to :scratch

There is a little vibration from the engine however it's not excessive IMO :|

Have a look at "flymount" I have one for my go pro but they also fit other cams. They are super secure and you could put it on things like the transom, the oars on the sponson, a seat edge or any grab handles.

Thanks for the reply.

Those mounts are really expensive, but look really good. I ordered one for my Sony Action Cam.
All I now need is a selfie Stick (HAHA) so I can attach it and take some under water shots and look for fish :-)

For the selfie stick get one of these.
https://www.7dayshop.com/products/7days ... IPODWT1003

It's aluminium so won't rust, well built and also isn't rounded so you can lock it at a length and it won't rotate with the weight of the camera.

You can grind the pointy bit down if it worries you but it's pretty well receded
