Found the pic but the vid is on the PC that's disconnected as the room it's in has been stripped out for spring cleaning! a pity as it's a fun vid, we were bouncing about heading into the waves and laughing our heads off. The SIB was behaving itself though

Really appreciate the piccy mate So it has an alloy/wood floor! Looked to see if they did one in the 3.3m size but can only find the alloy floor in a 2.90 size.

Beside price I can see an advantage for myself in the weight, being only 25.5 KG, I have COPD and dodgy knees, so I'm trying to avoid having to drag a 100 kilo plus outfit a couple of hundred yards down a beach to launch.
I can see this Waveline has an internal dimension of 68 cm against the Excel 330 which is 80 cm, there's only a 1 cm difference in tube size. Would the difference in width make the Waveline a lot less stable?

Hi Pete..I have never had a Waveline.. but did have a similar brand although it was a slat floor and not an air floor. It was a Seago..and probably made in the same factory in China as the Waveline boats ? Certainly a generic Chinese SIB.

I had sixteen years of great fun and adventure out that boat before I finally scrapped it. It would have lasted much longer if I hadn't constantly dragged it up beaches..without transom wheels.

It was badly abused by me.. but took everything I gave it. I'm sure a waveline will do similar. I looked at the model you are thinking of at the boat show a year or so ago..and if I hadn't bought the wee F Rib..think I would have gone for it. So saying .. Excel have very good reputations too and good value for money.

To answer your question about the width and stability etc. Obviously the smaller width will be a bit less stable when waves are coming side on. It will rock side to side a bit more.. but as the boat will want to naturally turn into wind when fishing..you wont notice and difference. If you intend standing to fish..then you may notice it more..but I don't stand to fish..and its not really recommended in any small boat.

In saying all this..if the Excel was not much more expensive .. perhaps I would think of going for it ? More internal room is always handy in any boat ..and although 1cm in tube diameter doesn't sound much..and its probably not.. every cm helps give a drier ride. My Seago was only 2.6m long .. and the tubes were not as big as now.. but it was a damp boating experience.

Just some rambling thought to your questions...hope they help.. its only my opinion and I can be wrong

Great info above for you, I have to say If pennies permitted, the excel seems to be a superb craft.
I very nearly bought a new volante a few years back. The chap (Terry) at excel was easy to talk to and knew his products very well.
Just a little pointer, the Honwave is a belting sib, slightly more than the excel and wavelines, perhaps worth finding yourself a good second hand t32 .. nice and light and very capable.
If you watch our Oban video (2016) you'll see Paul B giving it some beans, although we were in calm waters, it certainly stands up well in the choppy stuff too.

Thank you Donny and Martin much appreciated. Even after finding the a price on the Waveline this morning, I haven't stopped thinking about the Excel all day. I had for the past year, or at least not too long after joining F-ribs & Sibs decided on the SD360 with a Vector 9.9 HP, but I just haven't been able to get that kind of cash together. A couple of weeks back I started to look at the SD330 with a 6 HP, and just missed one on Apollo Duck for £1000 with a Yamaha 6 HP...Even seen one on Gumtree for £600 with a Johnson 3.5 but I think that may be a bit too small.
I spoke with Terry from Excel again this afternoon to see what their finance options are, just have to work out now if It's something I can afford. Getting married in two weeks so have a lot on at the moment. At least I've finished decorating, new carpet went down last week, so just have a few doors to strip
