Mulling it over some more, I decided to pull the trigger on a Stainless Steel Solas Titan HR4 in a 13x17p. Got it for a good price at $240USD.
1/4" smaller in diameter, 3 pitches down, addition of a 4th blade. Am very anxious to swap it out and give it a whirl.
The leading edge is very sharp! Not much more and it would cut your finger.

Nailed it!
Weather was excellent so I got a chance to take my brother, nephew, my oldest daughter and a sunburn out on the local lake. In the morning the water was glass smooth for miles with a subtle breeze which later turned to chop and about a 10 mph wind by the afternoon. Great testing scenarios for multiple conditions. The new prop was awesome and worked out perfectly. Hole shot was great, the engine was very smooth and had better, very consistent top end. Best we hit was 38 mph with the wind to our side and engine trimmed up to the point just before porpoising. RPM was at about 5750 to 5850 at WOT, just where I was hoping it would land! Water or wind conditions only had a very minor impact on performance. Even against the wind and chop, we were at 37 mph WOT. Having the Bimini top up will create drag and make quite a change but it's something I can live with.
At the end, had some fun and performed a couple of tight turns at high throttle. Prop showed absolutely no signs of any give.
Calculating a shocking 8% prop slip with this 4-blade and could not be any happier.
Only bummer was there were no fish to be had. Think the lake is way over-fished, or that is my reasoning...

ahh yes, the 4s vs 2s is significant in size. I'd gladly take your Evinrude over my Merc. Plus the white finish with striping matches the BW's well. The Merc is thin and tall and looks like the rudder on a plane

Canyon lake looks nice. I cant wait to get back up into Rebecca creek again this summer.
I once dated a girl in High School and her Father told me I would never amount to anything. He was right!

Re: Boston Whaler Montauk 170 (2011)
The first picture was actually taken at the mouth of 'Tom Creek'. It may be too far for you from the Rebecca Creek launch but if you get the chance, it's nicely nestled back and away into some old tree groves. Very calm and peaceful. Was a surprisingly 6-13 feet deep back a ways.
NW of there, at the mouth of the 'Y' peninsula, is a major swimming cove. Has been one of our family's favorites. Opposite of quiet. We really enjoyed seeing such a wide variety of boats, from shallow bay tunnel skiffs to roaring monster power boats. No matter how different they were, I think we got the most looks and waves because of our bright red SIB.
Last year in our SIB, we had headed up what I think is 'Potter Creek'. Was only about 1-3 deep and surprised a kayaker who probably thought he was the only one who could venture up there.

Matt- You'll have to start a Darkside build of your boat. Re-checked out the photo and am digging the aft seats. Wish I had something like those on ours.

Thanks 9. Yeah the colour scheme of the seats etc is very nice. The cuddy cusions are a mix of orange grey and white....ish and the pilot and passenger swivel seats are mainly orange. Ill start a boat thread at sone point. Dont think ive done 1.......9-R wrote:Matt- You'll have to start a Darkside build of your boat. Re-checked out the photo and am digging the aft seats. Yup, Jo has said as much to memattswan2512 wrote: mine looks like a tiddler lol
So you can indeed make up for it with a thread about 'my boat, my build'
Joking apart Matt, I do hope Jo is making headway with her treatment
All the very best guys
