The cruiser sticks to his path as the rib wishes to make the manouver. He should pass to the left of the cruiser. He makes his intention known by shouting

"Oi oik its 6 bloody knots not 3 and as you clearly dont know what your doing........ im gunna pass you on your left as you face forward yes.....just dont move alright ice cream cone"

must say you never see that correct procedure anymore tho.........

the last bit was a guess and their may be a chance its wrong but perhaps a bonus point Andy? comedy value......... :wavey

Yup..you are right Chris..and it appears Andy has left ?

I used to always put my foot in it when it came to remembering which was port and starboard..as my memory sometimes plays more tricks on me than my imagination.. then the instructor who taught me to row a boat in the sea scouts told me how to always remember.. and I have never forgotten since.. or if I do forget..I know somethings not quite right.

You signal your intention to pass the slower craft on their starboard side (their right) by giving one short blast on the horn.
You need to wait for the other craft to reply with one short blast to say they understand and that the path ahead is clear.

You signal your intention to pass on their port side (their left) by giving two short blast on the horn.
Again you need to wait for the other craft to reply with two short blasts to say they understand.

In reality the skipper of the Gin Palace will probably just look at you wondering what your problem is.......lol

Hey I was wrong and you hadn’t left after all Andy ..so Chris was right then .. it can get a bit confusing ..cant it ? :?

So here is one back at you Andy.. Chris ..or anyone else who wants to play the game

I should mention there is another green buoy just outside the left hand side of the photo.. the boat is coming towards me ..and Im going towards it.. in a similar type boat.. and Im approx same distance from the buoys as the other boat.

Can you think of a reason why the buoys are there ?
Kyles5.jpg
Clue.. They have been there as long as I can remember ..so its not a place for storing them ?...and I don’t think they for mooring boats on either ?

Once you suss out why they could be there ... can you work out how we should proceed ?

Clue ..I have no clue for this one.. cos thats the main question :P
