Endeavour 500: Call to the Dark Side

Post by acidcloud » 16 Jul 2018, 12:46

OK considering a call to the Dark Side
Really enjoy my T38IE and 20HP Suzuki but its all about the fishing an am seriously thinking of an upgrade to an Endeavour 500 boat

Nice looking boat, it's about the fishing for me too, but it's also about ease of launch, storage and bang for buck as well. I don't think I'd use a bigger boat more than the F-Rib, it would be more comfortable and have a greater range, but I couldn't justify the costs.

I'm lucky cost is not an issue for me and I live 1/2 from Littlehampton and launching there is pretty easy.

The T38 is great and probably the maximum weight I can handle beach launching.
But it was always a starter boat for me.

The Warrior boats seem very popular with the fishermen.

cost is not a problem for me its storing it that's the problem, the honwave is a compromise I have to put up with & it does fine for 2 of us fishing even though a bit cramped & it would be nice to be able to actually walk around a boat but £17000 seems a bit steep when the seahogs, Alaska's & as Chris stated the warrior which are all great boats are much cheaper now.

Although no expert on fishing craft, at £17000 the Endeavour looks a reasonable deal to me for a turnkey package. Allowing for choice of 60hp motor (£6000 plus steering and fitting etc), braked trailer (£1500) plus numerous extras all add up making the bare hull price probably around/under £8000.
A quick look on the Warrior site shows their 165 package priced at £18000.

Hopefully soon be welcoming you to the darkside.

I've been having some thoughts too about a dark side boat, although its early days - if I do go down that route, any potential purchase won't be until next season or the season after.

For the price of a new purpose built fishing boat like an Endeavour, it looks like you can get a decent 2nd hand 5-6 meter sports cuddy with an outboard and trailer. Some of the sports cuddy designs have lots of space for fishing, but come with the flexibility for taking the family out, towing inflatables etc. etc.

You don't get as much weather protection when motoring than you do with the more traditional fishing pilothouse design, but you get lots of seating and a 2 bearth cabin for the odd overnight sleep and a chemical toilet. Might be worth considering if it's possible you might want to use the boat for anything in addition to fishing.

Cool looking boat. I'm all for taking a careful approach to the 2nd hand option. Hope you join us on the darkside. Let us know what you decide!
Wrote a note said, 'back in a minute'. Bought a boat and I sailed off in it.

Ok changed from Endeavour 500 just didnt get responses from company in a normal way and rumers of them being in difficulty, both put me off.
So have actually ordered a brand new Warrior 165 with 70hp outboard fully kitted out.

Should be ready weekend after next.
Will probably sell my pre-loved Honda Honwave T38ie and Suzuki 20hp and extras over the next few months
Thought about keeping it but will just probably take up space and not be used.

Will be sticking on this site and still be fishing out of Shoreham Harbour and Littlehampton.
hopefully you guys will still speak to me. posting.php?f=86&mode=reply&t=2749&sid= ... 29a9054c7d#
