Most of the new inboards now have dripless shaft seals so no packing glands to fuss with. I went ahead and replaced the seal in mine since I have everything ripped apart. And any chick that has dick will always be a dude in my book. Even that Jenner freak who recently took a meat clever to his dong will always be a dude to me.

Pretty sad when your worth a 100 million bucks and the best idea you have to spend your money on is dong removal surgery. Just seems like a bad investment. Or maybe living with Kardashian Klux Klan drove him nutters. Either way there are no returns on his procedure and I don't wish him the best.

Sorry Si I'm talking 'crossed threads' mate, my bad
Looking at the original photo I read it that the gearbox output shaft seal was leaking due to shaft wear, rather than replace it, they'd packed prior to the seal to overcome the issue for the short term
Sorry for the confusion ...... BTW interesting read that Cox Engineering link

Well finally got all my parts and after about 30 hours of labor in the last few weeks my boat is up to par. biggest challenge was cutting my honeycomb alluminum to move the sunpad engine tray over but it worked out nice. I also had a buddy build me a support bracket for the sunpad and its now fatboy anti sagging proof. Going to enjoy the boat this summer and then Im ripping out the carpet and viny in the fall for a complete restoration. Here is what I did with the sunpad and what a buddy fabbed up for me.
