Re: my new ship humber destroyer
Too expensive to shorten shaft. Cheaper to sell and buy another with correct leg length.
If av plate is level or even just below (10mm) keel I’d leave as is until tested on water. The jack plate will always be an option to fall back on.

Re: my new ship humber destroyer
well after a busy week at work I have managed to get a few hours to get started on the humber
.so an update on how it stands at the moment for anyone who may be interested.
my first task was to get all the control cables , battery main leads , fuel pipe , transducer cable ,a couple of live feeds for bilge and nav lights the tubes for the hydraulic steering and of course the main engine loom from the transom end to the pointy end in a tidy manner.
I purchased a length of twinwall flexible conduit 50mm id online which is virtually identical to what comes out of the engine cowl to keep it looking factory and protect everything from my size elevens .feeding the said bunch of cables through the conduit was done with a draw cord

Re: my new ship humber destroyer
with the console now full of wirey things I thought it was time to add some furniture to my side of the console .
I covered the areas where I needed holes with 2 inch masking tape so I could plan the layout in pen before cutting anything.
the switch panel , steering helm unit and the throttle were new so came with templates that were just taped in place and drew the outline of the cut. the gauges was just a matter of picking the correct size hole saw .and that is as far as I got today as mrs beerbelly is off out on the lash and needs dropping off . but its starting to look like a boat now

Wow. That's starting to look really good. You have got a lot done quite quickly. You'll be out on the water soon!
Not a complete idiot - some parts are missing.

Re: my new ship humber destroyer
with the inside of the console somewhere near I moved onto the blunt end and fitted an ip67 waterproof junction box to connect my bilge pump and nav lights into the loom .I also fitted a new racor fuel filter water separator. the alloy box section you can just see the bottom of is a metre long and to mount the nav lights and arial more on that later
