Beachmaster Wheels on F-Rib

Post by Kevin » 17 May 2016, 08:39

A couple of pictures of my F-Rib375 with Beachmaster removable wheels. This means I now have a brand-new unused pair of F-Rib official launch wheels for sale. Any offers?

Fitting requires precision drilling as any slight misalignment means it is hard to mount/unmount the wheels.

Looks a nice setup those Beachmaster's and like the way they tuck under the transom to tube webbing 8-)
Like me you had no alternative but to attach the mounts below the waterline and agree with "requires precision drilling" to get them right, giving the wheels their correct operating movement..... which is particularly nerve-racking on a nice new shiny boat :!:
It appears to be sat on a nice new trailer as well ;-) which make did you go for as Martin is researching trailers at the moment :?:
Any ideas on what make and power outboard you've decided on yet :?:
Going to be a lovely rig  :drive
BTW, the keel guard tape is a must IMO if you want to keep the hull undamaged
:cheers

Thanks for the post, I too am looking at the beachmaster removable wheels.
Hmmm, :thud Now I've seen them, I'm a little concerned that the wheel mounts are sat below the waterline if left on ???
:scratch
That trailer looks great BTW !!!
as above, I'd be grateful of any info as I'm about to purchase shortly :cheers

Mine are fitted below the waterline and they've been like that for 14 months without any issues at all :D and I've used mine regularly during that time (maybe 100+ hours) in salt water.
BUT make sure the mounting bolt threads, the bracket faces and the 'penny' washers are all assembled and sealed with a proper marine grade silicone sealant :!: :!: :!:
As a point ........ I needed to remove one of the retaining bolts to exchange it for a longer one to fit a rod holder and can confirm it was in perfect condition, as was the hole through the transom :D

Sorry, I should have written that a bit better,
I was referring to the bracket/wheels sitting in the chine exit.
A little difficult to determine by photo :scratch
That immediately yells drag, splash and a negative on handling to me :Confused

The trailer in the photos is an Extreme 500KG Roller. I'll post some additional photos and experiences with it shortly. I looked at the Indespension range but it came down to price. The Extreme purchased from E-Trailers in Cornwall http://www.e-trailers.co.uk was cheaper than than the equivalent purchased from my local Indespension in Glasgow when delivery, spare wheel etc were factored in.

The trailer is for local use mainly so I can get everything prepared at home and be on the water as soon as possible. It makes evening adventures much more feasible. For longer trips, and when towing a caravan, the F-Rib travels folded.

Initially Jeff from E-Trailers was terrifically helpful but I am still waiting for the spare wheel mount to be delivered 5 weeks after the main delivery and I'm starting to get frustrated with the situation.

Hope this helps

Kevin

Thanks Kevin, I was curious over the trailer. :cheers
Can I ask, those beachmaster wheels look like they may obstruct water flow from the chines.. Are they clear of the chine exit or is there a slight drop into the chine.
So hard to tell from the angle of the photo. :scratch

Martin

Some additional shots. As you can see the wheels are clear when retracted but there is room to mount them higher if you wish. Beachmaster give guidelines for the minimum clearance (10mm clearance from tyre to the bottom of the boat hull) in their instructions http://www.beachmaster.co.nz/#!removeab ... ions/wgx0y.
