330 vs 360

Post by James » 01 Aug 2015, 12:33

Hi

I am thinking about getting an F-Rib. I think I have narrowed it down to either a 330 or 360.
I notice most people seem to have the 330. Is there a reason for this? Cost is around £100 more for 360.

Also, how are you getting on with the v-floor?
I also need to have launch wheels and tow eyes.

Thanks

James

Hi there James, and welcome to F-Ribs And Sibs.
I'll leave the F-Rib questions for the F-Rib boys, But thought i'd better say Hi and apologies for your late acceptance. The forum guys have been out on a meeting today, so hardly any activity on here... Sorry :shame

When you get a minute, if you wouldn't mind doing a quick introductory on our "introduce yourself" page :Link http://www.f-ribsandsibs.com/viewforum.php?f=5 It would be greatly appreciated, as it gives the forum members chance to say "Hi" and welcome you personally.

Regards,
Martin :cheers

Hi
Just got our frib this week a 330, reason I got the 330 was weight. It has to be lifted up on to a cycle rack on the motorhome which I can manage, there is no way I could have done that with the 360 plus getting the 330 means a smaller outboard (6hp) can be used and again easier to lift and carry and sufficient for my use. Would like a bigger outboard but needs must.
The v floor poses no problem in my eyes I was stood up fishing in choppy water. I really love it and excited about getting it kitted out for the fishing gear etc. one thing I would say is watch the corners on the hull where they meet as I have chipped mine already but I will repair it the put some duck tape along the edges to protect them .
All I can say is which ever you choose you won't be disappointed trust me .

James :wavey

As dalesman says it's all down to the weight factor, your circumstances and what you're going to do with your F-Rib when you get it :|
I loved the 375 with the flat deck but at 62kg it was impossible for me to 'man handle' in and out of my pick-up alone :( so I went for the 360 at 48kg but that's still a struggle with a pick-up truck tailgate being so high :thud but I need the vehicle for work and towing a caravan. If you've a low load height on a car, estate or van then it's not a problem :)

The 'V' of the floor isn't severe and I don't think any of us with 275, 330 and 360's are that bothered about it and I suppose if it did then a few cut to shape thin pieces of ply would soon have that sorted
F-Rib HQ isn't that far away from you on Hamble Point Marina so go have a 'touchy feely' of the range and I'm sure Steve will help you out or as and when we have a meet-up outing come along by all means have a go in mine :drive I've got launch wheels and towing eyes fitted........I'll bring along a ringo and kneeboard if you want to get wet
Any other questions then just :shoot away ;-)
:cheers

Hi.

Thanks for the replies.
It looks to me that 330's are popular because they weigh less. I have a Navara Pickup truck with a hard top so a 360 shouldn't be an issue.

I have a few questions regarding some Accessories here https://foldablerib.com/en/13-rib-accessories

Bench Bags
Are these any good?
Are they water proof?
Reason I ask, today I carry a ruck sack which I tie in to the Sib

Launch wheels
Are the Metal Launch wheels good?
I am planning to launch from both pedal and sand beaches, plus concrete slipways

Where does the fuel tank sit in the F-Rib 360? My Sib has straps near the front for it.
Does anyone have a photo of the 360 floor? I can't find any.

Thanks
James

Thanks for the Info buddy. Interesting about the weight of the 360 vs a pickup. I have a navara.
I'm hoping it will be the same or easier than me putting my 3.2 sib in there.
I just looked up kneeboard. Looks pretty awesome. I wonder if my 15hp engine will be good enough to pull one of these.

Small world mate as I've a Navara as has Martin and PaulB on here 8-)
In fairness I'm an old fart at 58 years and only 5' 8" so you'll maybe not struggle
A 15hp will push the 360 very well but unsure about a kneeboard but who knows until you try :scratch
Best you try an F-Rib out first for handling/loading etc, then out on the water and you can then make a decision ;-) as I've no idea of the weight of your current boat :|

Yeh, I love the Navara. I've only had it for 6 months.
I used to have an E46 M3 where I fitted velocity stacks. Bl**dy awesome car but the boat would not fit in it.
I also have a 9 month daughter, so with her and the boat the car had to go which is fine.

As for the board, It's not my main priority since no one would use it. All I care about is the boat handles well in the English Channel, can be on the plane with out always being at WOT and I can do a spot of fishing here and there.

This will be the engine that would be going on a F-Rib

F-rib and a Navara.... A man with good taste
You'll fly in the F-Rib with a 15 hp on, and it'll plane a treat at low speeds with or without the fins on.
