Re: 275 as fishingboat?
I've ordered a 275 a couple of days ago now and are thinking about getting a honda bf2,3 engine (http://marine.honda.com/outboards/motor-detail/BF2.3) but i dont know if i should have the long or the short version? I will use it in minor lakes.

Re: 275 as fishingboat?
Nice choice of boat Nilofgren .. its what I have too
So for me..your question is easy to answer ..as the measurement from the top of Transom to the bottom of transom is 16" .. (I just measured it to make sure.)
So according to this web site .... http://smalloutboards.com/shaft.htm
You need the 15" length shaft..which is the Short shaft. I could have said that straight off..but wanted to give you some back up as to my reply.
The Honda will certainly move your boat with no problem..at displacement speeds of around 6 mph tops ..but it wont plane.. which may not be an issue for you.
Mine will plane.. if its only me and no gear ..with a 3.3 HP ..and do around 12 mph..so if you wanted to plane ..Im very happy with a 6HP which motors mine along at 16mph with all my gear.
Just ignore my comments about plane speeds if you are happy at displacement speed..as I know speed is not needed for fishing in lakes
Enjoy the boat when it arrives..I love mine

Re: 275 as fishingboat?
Thanks for the answer, no it doesnt have to plane, just has to take me from place to place, weight on the engine is more important than higher speed
I order it this thuesday, but i havent got any information about if they have sent it or not, would like a tracking number but its hard to reach them on mail, i hope i will have it next week.
