Re: Chrismas is coming early!!
Yes Andy I bought the detachable version which are a bit more expensive than the standard non-detachable ones.
Basically all that you fit (bolt onto) to the boat is 8 small 'studs' 4 for each wheel. The main wheel plates have 4 holes each - 1 in each corner which the studs fit into and the wheels / plates are held onto the studs by some swivel locking pins that locate into collars in the studs. Once on they then retract and extend via a very clever cantilever system and lock themselves at both positions.
Once the wheels are removed the studs bolted on to the back of the transom actually protrude less than the flange of fibreglass at the top of the transom and therefore they don't increase the dimensions of the boat at all and have no impact whatsoever on folding it up.
They are high quality aluminium too so are very light.
But they are ££££!! compared to others but having seen a couple of different options I think its worth it.
If you go to the beachmaster website there are some vids of the retracting mechanism and removal of the detachable ones etc.

Re: Chrismas is coming early!!
My plan exactly with the tape. I have astroturf lawn so will be applying it there with no risk of hull damage.ArcusFlyer wrote:Nice one. Loving my FRIB-360. Been out 3 times now.
I bought my trolling/aux engine (suz 2.5hp) from pennine marine and when I picked it up had a good chat with the guy there. Nice chap seems like a v professional setup there. I will be getting both my Suzi's serviced there.
I second Paul's comment about the keel tape. I put mine on when the boat was brand new and its amazing how many scuffs are on the keel tape already that would have been on the keel itself.
If you are fitting the launch wheels yourself make sure you're happy with the fit and clearance when they're in the retracted position before drilling the transom. I wasn't happy so sent them back and went for the beachmaster wheels instead which so far have been great.
Here's a pic of my fishing buddy (and best man at my wedding) pulling the boat back to the car from the slip at windermere after a pike fishing session. Thats the 2.5hp on the back although on a lake the size of Windermere the 20hp might have been better.
Pennine marine are fitting the wheels for me free of charge. £50 delivery charge but that's way cheaper than driving there and back to collect it.
Why am I here - I should be in my boat fishing!!

Will do Martin, bit chilly round here now so as I have a wide hallway it will be opened there in the warm, also better for applying the Keeleazy tape.
