Re: Takacat 3.4m LX - Tiny Tigga
Once we were sitting aboard our vessel in a UK marina (Bucklers Hard) and UK Border Force personnel arrived on the pontoons. They appeared to be visiting boats with persons aboard that was either flying no Ensign, or flying a foreign Ensign. They got to our vessel, clocked the Red Ensign flying from the pushpit, said a polite "good morning" and walked straight on past. They never asked us for any paperwork (we had photcopies of all our paperwork in a folder kept aboard at all times).

Re: Takacat 3.4m LX - Tiny Tigga
I read the wikipedia thing this morning before it was posted, and its all very interesting stuff. My link was different.
" Many in the Admiralty felt that the Royal Navy's use of three separate ensigns (i.e., the red, white, and blue) was outdated and confusing. Many also felt that steam merchantmen should be clearly distinguishable from warships. In July 1864, an order-in-council provided that the White Ensign was the ensign of the Royal Naval Service. The Blue Ensign was designated as the proper national colours for ships commanded by an officer of the Royal Naval Reserve, and (with an appropriate badge) as national colours for ships in government service. The Red Ensign was assigned to British merchantmen. This basic structure remains today."
So I presume, modern day, if you fly the red ensign, its a bit like sticking an England flag on your car when there is a world cup on ? If your not ruled by law to do so !

Red ensigns can be "Badged"
Check out the Falkland Islands Red Ensign.
Note the "Sheep" !!
Obviously, brings to mind, "Desire the right" to put the back legs of a sheep inside your wellies !

Probably the same as an England flag fixed to both back side windows and some dodgy football club scarf on the parcelshelf while driving down lane three of the motorway with nothing in lanes one and two

Hey Chris, the Takacat rod holder kit looks just the biz for a couple of flags.chris moody wrote: ↑25 Feb 2019, 20:07I also need to incorporate a flagpole in the new transom board as I eventually want to fly my Red Ensign from the stern

Re: Takacat 3.4m LX - Tiny Tigga
I now have the tinytach max rpm figures from a run out last weekend. Managed 5350 rpm. I've done loads of calculations and have now ordered a 8.5 x 7 propeller and I'm having it cupped. Hopefully this will cure the ventilation, and allow me to trim out more. With the new prop I'm expecting max revs to be 5600 to 5700. Fingers crossed I have done my sums correctly.

New modified prop should arrive around the 11th or 12th April.

Re: Takacat 3.4m LX - Tiny Tigga
I had mentioned a chopper prop earlier but after reading more up on them, I think you need a cleaver prop for ventilation instead. Also designed to raise the stern. Chopper will raise the bow.
Wrote a note said, 'back in a minute'. Bought a boat and I sailed off in it.
