Re: Humber 4 meter Rib
Not sure how much interest there is in this build? but i'l keep posting until someone tells me not to.....
So update on the consul rigging,
Screens now fitted, It came out of the motorcycle parts bin instead of the box of boaty stuff
Cut down to size and heat shaped to fit the front of the consul.
With this fitted it's time to mount the plotter.
Really am running out of space fast on this boat!
Mounted the steering wheel as high as possible so as to give a better driving experience, but this has lead to an issue with the wheel obscuring the view of the plotter...
. .
No other option than to raise it.
Luckily i had my eye on the issue before i fitted the screen.
Ironically a roll of 3'' tape is a perfect fit for the Garmin bracket, but i don't think this is an ideal solution???
. .
So it's a chance to play with some polycarb.
Nice to start with a blank canvas...
. .
At this point i have no plans and am working to the boat and plotter?
Started by marking out the center, and then the bit that will be attached to the plotter.
. .
Then I had to fabricate a heating jig. A way of isolating the heat to the bend line.
. .
The a simple jig was formed by screwing a couple of bits of wood to the bench...
Nothing too high tech here
. .
A couple more bends and i have the starts of a rudimentary bracket/mount.
. .
From this point it was just a case of grinding the bracket down with a flap wheel to the desirable shape and size.
So after a couple of hours in the Man cave this is where I am at. Still some final finishing to be done on the shaping and i'l probably give it a carbon fibre wrap when i'm happy with it...
I've also made it so that it will give further support to the screen.

Looks like a great build , wish I had the facilities and ability to do that. I'm picking up the Zodiac today and at some point would like to make/ acquire a small screen for it , but would probably end up having to buy one!

Re: Humber 4 meter Rib
I like the idea of the ribs but not totally convinced as I use mine a lot for fishing & the honwave is now set up for that but I would like a bit more room & a lot more speed.

Re: Humber 4 meter Rib
Hey Mitch let’s face it.
As Chris mentioned, you’re at the top of a slippery slope now. Only a matter of time before you loose your grip...just have to accept the inevitable.
Look what happened to poor old Roy. Couple of rides with the rib boys and he defected before even joining the SIB party.
Andy,
Yes, please keep posting on the rebuild. Great to see it coming along. Proper job.

Nice work Andy. Plotter mount now doubles as somewhere to stick your gloves and sandwich!
Love these project's of bringing stuff back up to a really nice standard for use for years to come.
