Re: F-Rib 375 (foldable Rib) - My Boat / My Build
A couple of hours spare today...
A quick inspection of the fibre glassing and i noticed the matting had lifted from the gelcot in a few places, not good !!
I set about sanding the bubbles down, re-applied a matting section to the defects (cut to shape) and brushed the resin in...
Again, allowing it to semi cure I then laid my 2nd coat of matting/resin and ran a roller around the section hopefully eliminating air entrapment this time.

Re: F-Rib 375 (foldable Rib) - My Boat / My Build
Looking a little more like it should now...
A bit more rolling required so the whole matting absorbs the resin
Hopefully I'll start on the wooden framework this weekend to enable me to build up the sides and create some strength into the mould..

Impressive Martin. And here was I thinking I had a good idea - cutting a piece of ply to fit in the bow to make a padded seat!
Why am I here - I should be in my boat fishing!!

Re: F-Rib 375 (foldable Rib) - My Boat / My Build
Thanks warder.
My aim is to create a fixed bow seat/locker effect but one that actually lifts out for those fold up trips.
Fixed stuff is great but that then defeats the object of the FRIB, whilst trailering the box/seat will be a permanent fixture through its own weight and hull matching design.
No bouncing out, no slipping around, just a firm but comfy seat for my little girl. The bow is currently always home to my anchor bucket, it drives me mad slopping and crashing around, this will hopefully house the anchor and such but give me a hinged seat too too.
It all sounds good in theory, but I've not obtained my blue peter badge yet so who knows what may happen
Double sided sticky tape and a box of Frosties later...

I thought you were building a dodgy counterfeit copy of an F-RIB, but doing it bit by bit so nobody noticed. Looks like a fantastic idea and will be a great addition to the F-Rib.

On another note...
I've just knocked it off my boat (whilst on the trailer) and it's gone crashing to the ground
I'm delighted to say its lived,no cracks or breakages but i won't be doing that again in a hurry... We'll call that either a fluke or a good strong healthy build...

Looks really good mate. I am interested in how this turns out.
Are you going to anchor is down? If so, how?

Re: F-Rib 375 (foldable Rib) - My Boat / My Build
Looking at it james i doubt it will move due to the fact its a perfect moulding of the frib bow section? Maybee martin has a way of securing it down in mind but for me it should not shift......ahhhhh but hang on its u james and you are the jump master
so in your boat it would need securing for sure

Re: F-Rib 375 (foldable Rib) - My Boat / My Build
Bang on matt, it is a perfect mould of the inner hull, the ribbing of the hull will stop any movement forwards/backwards/side to side.
It's own weight should hold it in place and certainly the anchor and such will assist.
I do have a securing method in mind if needed, utalsing the d-rings I've fitted instead of the wing nuts on the hull sections.
I've been known to pass a little wind under the hull too, so it'll get thoroughly tested
