Recent FRIB valve adapter

Folding Ribs or F-Ribs are a great way of obtaining a hard hull boat but having the flexibility of a sib.
F-Ribs have the 3 or 4 section articulating hinge joint that allow the boat to fold up for ease of storage & transportation. A great idea opening up a whole new world of opportunity.

Recent FRIB valve adapter

Post by simonk » 18 Apr 2019, 22:07

Would somebody kindly point me in the direction of an appropriate valve adapter to use with FRIB (2019) valves please? The supplied FRIB pump only had a push fit adapter that seemed to work. My new Itiwit pump doesn’t have an adapter that’s a direct fit... I got round it by holding the rubber gasket of the screw type adapter against the outer part of the FRIB valve. However, it’d be nice to wander around and do stuff whilst the Itiwit is doing its thing.

Thanks @Martin, I’ll take a pic of the valve when I unload the car tomorrow. I found this via a search and wondering if it would fit the bill...

@simonk
That's exactly the sort i have for my Frib 375, also fits the Honwave type valve.
Notice the adjustable screw in the middle, makes all the difference !!

Pop up an image when you get chance - i know frib HQ did mention new valves were getting fitted but they may be prv's rather than inflation valves.

So here’s a couple of pics of the Frib valve. The last one shows the push fit adapter supplied with the OEM pump which relies on friction alone to hold it in.

Thanks Chris, that looks right. They look to be the one and only stockist in the UK too. Wonder why Frib didn’t supply the correct adapter with the pump instead of some generic thing that just sorta works.

Hopefully that’ll be the right adapter then Simon...
I knew Frib Hq had mentioned new valves but was unsure as to which type they were changing.

Can I ask you to upload all images directly to the site please in the future and not external site link images..
We’ve had huge problems in the past with external image storage sites and it causes us kids a lot of hard work.

Cheers,
Martin 👍🏻

I’ll be honest, I feel a bit miffed that FRIB have eschewed the tried, tested and widely accepted Halkey Roberts setup for a valve that even they can’t (or at least don’t) supply the correct adapter for. None of my pumps fit. I can’t seem to buy one with the correct adapter, and I’m having to consider bastardising a pump with an externally sourced adapter to achieve something you might expect out of the box with a two grand plus 9’ boat. Grrr... I’m going to be phoning FRIB on Tuesday with a small list of annoyances.
