Trailer for F Rib

Folding Ribs or F-Ribs are a great way of obtaining a hard hull boat but having the flexibility of a sib.
F-Ribs have the 3 or 4 section articulating hinge joint that allow the boat to fold up for ease of storage & transportation. A great idea opening up a whole new world of opportunity.

Trailer for F Rib

Post by Gilly65 » 15 Mar 2018, 07:17

I know it go against the grain, but do anyone leave their F Rib on a trailer. If so have you had any issues, do you take your engine off when trailering and what type of trailer do you use. (ROLLER/BUNK).
Thank you in advance. :thumbsup

It doesn’t go against the grain at all, Quite a few people trailer sibs and f-ribs,
I leave my Honwave on its trailer all year round, for a sib I’d recommend a bunker trailer But for a f-rib you really want a roller one, and yes you can tow with the engine on the transom, but make sure you have a keel roller or some support directly under the transom :thumbsup

Yes - My F-Rib 360 lives on my roller trailer with engine on, unless I'm going on a long journey for a run out. Outboard sits in the fully down position with lots of clearance for the skeg - even over speed humps. Can't remember what model just now but Martin would be able to tell you - I got it through supporting members discount scheme for trips to Oban or similar distance it folds and goes in the back of my car (Navara). It really is the best of both worlds ;-)

Gilly
During ownership I transported my FRIB360 with a Tohatsu 20hp mounted on its transom covering many miles without any issue :D
It travelled on a Indespension Micro 'Swing' roller trailer (same trailer as Martin and Mike) which proved perfect for the job :thumbsup
If you need any more info, photos and tips let me know ;-)
:cheers
