Using a knife ina SIB

Thinking I need a knife of some description (cutting away morning lines from the prop perhaps) but worried about dropping a sharp pointy thing on my high pressure floor! I have seen a rounded end knife but can’t for the life of me find it again. Any ideas ? What do others carry? Thanks in advance.

They are often called a "safety knife" or a "rescue knife" and a quick search on either of those phrases will find loads of them.

In my opinion they are an essential bit of safety kit. The features I look for in a safety knife are:

Serrated blade
Rounded tip
A locking mechanism so the blade cannot accidentally close on your fingers during use

Thanks for the quick responses. Wife is asking for ideas for my birthday - she'll wish she never asked with all the kit I've got my eye on :D All the gear and no idea :drive

Yes , birthdays are easy for Sibbers as we need so much kit:
  • Safety Knives
  • Dry Bags
  • Anchor
  • VHF Radio
  • Personal Locator Beacon
  • Waterproof bag for mobile phone
  • Drysuit
  • Chest Waders
The list is endless

Definitely need a knife whenever you have rope and water about.

I have one of these on my life jacket.

Rescue Knife - Rope and Belt Cutter https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00ATTAWK0/ ... XBbKPT0EG1

For me it’s just less chance of puncturing my sib with this 👍🏻

Whatever you choose just make sure you have it in your person at all times.

Thought I'd be a smart-arse and suggest a spoon-knife but after a quick search I found out, it's a real thing!

I bought a little Edelrid rope knife that I liked the look of, then ground the tip off so it's nice and rounded.

It's quite small, but the blade locks out so not 100% sure on the legality. It can be used one handed and has a good serrated section.
